When it happens, you're probably not even going to learn about it directly before you feel it in the air. You'll just hear car horns and cheering in the streets. You'll feel confused, annoyed. You'll check your phone. Huh, 41 new texts.

This is obviously a temporary construction measure, but still it's some comically bad infrastructure. "Fuck you in particular, wheelchair user!"

You're in a desert and you're walking along in the sand and all of a sudden you look down and you see a turtle. But you're not posting about it. Why is that Leon?
I second the need for more turtle posting! I live in a desert now, I haven’t seen a single turtle this year!
Literally begging you to post about Just Some Stuff. We will see the news I absolutely promise. Twenty people will repost the same exact thing about the news. Only you can post about a turtle you saw

This is me every time I half-ass vacuuming the house or clock a workout that's a mile jog and ten pushups.

Do something. The perfect is the enemy of the good.
Actually the best life advice I ever got: Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly. A half-cleaned room is better than an uncleaned room. Occasionally flossing is better than never flossing. A 10-minute workout is better than no workout. When it’s all you can do to get out of bed, get out of bed.

The Stanley No. 45 Plane was manufactured from 1884 to 1962. Mine was made around 1905 -- 120 years ago. I inherited it from my grandfather, a woodworker and antique collector who I suspect had it more for the latter purpose.

My submission for this week's 52frames.com "Something Old" assignment.

The world of extreme heavy metal music is rife with fash, and I still have to remind myself to research the politics of any exciting new band I come across. I would not in a million years have guessed that you'd have to do the same with purveyors of yarn and ink. Such a strange world we live in.
I just want to point out that fascisim is, among other things, weaponized nostalgia. Which means that if you have any hobby that has a nostalgic aspect, be aware that you probably have some fascists hanging about. Knitting, sewing, fountain pens, history buffs, gaming? Yep, all them.

Taylor Swift is younger than Paul's Boutique.
The release of Paul’s Boutique is closer to the release of “Rock Around the Clock” than it is to today.

My brother in law got _The Ministry of Time_ by Kailane Bradley for xmas and I started reading his copy to see if I liked it.

Read half the book by noon on Boxing Day, and ran to the bookstore to buy my own copy as soon as I got home so I could finish it.

A few miles from my house, at the edge of an empty field, is a long-abandoned swimming pool. It’s surrounded by weeds and there’s detritus scattered across the bottom. The walls are covered by a palimpsest of decades of graffiti.

I've tried to upload the same post with photos five different times and it's failed every time. The first two times I "succeeded" but the images were just black rectangles. I tried with low-res images, and got "getPost() failed". I've typed the alt-texts five times, and I'm sick of it.
