in an era of increasingly unavoidable surveillance let’s all remember that they can’t surveil our thoughts
Honestly we have to go back to holding some critical phone numbers in our heads. We used to do it as a matter of course.

I'm guilty myself - it was only last year that I intentionally sat down and memorized my own husband's cell - but we really need that info to be second nature again.
i know nothing about this information or its source but i do know people should really consider writing directions/important numbers on their bodies and leaving their phones the fuck at home before going to protest

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

this is literally what all the calls were for. this is good. this is what we wanted.

i’d *love* every politician to be a self starter working in broad daylight to champion trans liberation, but a few thousand folks pressuring people in power to use it for good is what we have. i’m glad it worked.

A lot of people call me a doomer but at heart I'm an optimist. I have an unshakable faith that things in the long term will work out for the better. Even the utopian Star Trek universe had a hellish few decades around this time. What I mourn is all the people we'll lose along the way.

The purpose of the Supreme Court has always been to disguise as objective legal imperative the prejudices & tastes of justices who are selected precisely because they are median avatars of privileged classes.

It is the branch designed to protect status from the risks of democratic governance.

The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

I’ve never let myself give up the remaining shard of hope still burning bright somewhere within me, despite how much the thoughts in my mind tell me that the world is hopeless.

Agree 💯 and one of the worst aspects of the slow hollowing out is how many folks aren’t seeing any clues to what’s happening because they are not curious enough to look outside of their familiar surroundings.

Mental or physical surroundings. No interest at all to explore the unknown.
The conditions that have led to what’s happening in the US today exist in democracies around the world.
They are an inevitable outcome of our collective failure to adapt to fundamental changes in the information ecosystem on which our democracies were originally built.

This author doesn’t provide much of a solution to the problem of ressentiment, and I’m not sure there is one. Just look after yourself and the friends and family you still have left, I guess
