After the intrusive thoughts in my mind got really bad last week, I concluded that it might be time to start memorizing some important passwords

You know, just in case

It's especially bad for everyone because many, I fear, aren't going to act out against anyone in particular, but against anyone who has the bad luck of being around them. When people are overwhelmed by anger, they often take it out on the nearest punching bag, even if it's their own family.

Is it for their sake or for your own sanity though? I've seen people describe forgiveness as letting go of other people's hold on you, so in that way it's allowing you to heal yourself

I like the idea but I'm not entirely convinced

Now that I think of it, I drink quite a bit more black coffee than I used to. I enjoy strong flavors, but I can’t drink alcohol anymore (2 years sober now), so coffee it is

I also like hot peppers, more than my butt would appreciate

I wonder if the overwhelming preponderance of internet trolling has dulled people’s sense of shame. People would get trolled or shamed for anything and everything they’d say, regardless of whether it was stupid, so it makes no difference anymore whether it’s stupid.

It's ressentiment. They'll gladly accept further misery for themselves so long as everyone else gets to be just as miserable, if not more so.

The question, as always with fascism, is how many people they'll take with them as they go down. In this way, it's remarkably like a virus: self-limiting, but not without destroying whatever is in its path.

Some do, anyhow

I think it’s time to stop whitewashing them as “detention centers.” They’re concentration camps.
