Los Angeles suffered tremendously because of the wildfires. The president of the United States has wanted to make the immigrants who make the city suffer and declared war on the city. But all throughout it, L.A. makes it work daily. It’s a place where people go to make it. LA deserves this.

Ten years! Time flies impossibly fast!
The horror thriller ‘Dark Was The Night’ (aka ‘Monster Hunter’) starring Kevin Durand, Bianca Kajlich, Steve Agee, and Lukas Haas opened in theaters ten years ago this week. 🚨 💀 😱 #OTD

If history is any lesson -- don't complain about anything in a WGA survey that you aren't willing to go on strike for / fire your reps over / burn your own house to the ground about.

A really concerning thread. The board going against their own trial committees' recommendations is the most concerning part to me, and the main reason I voted against the proposed sanctions in each case.
As most probably know, the WGA pursued discipline against a handful of writers for actions taken during the strike.

Four have appealed the judgements and this week all WGA members can vote on whether to confirm or overturn the punishments imposed. Some thoughts:

How bad is it out here for writers? From the WGA:

According to Guild data, approximately 37% fewer WGA-covered episodic TV series aired in the 2023-24 season, and the season’s series had 1,319 fewer writer jobs than the prior season. The decline in the number of jobs impacted writers at all levels.

Also, if the end result of the writer being the director is deemed to be so much better, we should start letting more writers direct!
9 out of 10 screenplay nominations going to the directors…

*sigh*

We need to completely rethink these categories. Writing for someone else who directs is a very different skillset than writing for yourself to direct.

To LA County wildfire survivors:

If you get a “not approved” letter from FEMA, don’t stop there – it doesn’t mean you’re out of options.

FEMA might just need more info, like insurance details or proof of residence.
