So what I hear you saying is that A24's newest film Eternity (2025), starring gay-icon-able actress Elizabeth Olsen and swoonable Callum Turner, and also for some reason Miles Teller, is a baffling mix of heteronormativity and homopanic—got it. (I'll leave you to search for nude photos of CT. SIgh.)

Couldn't be happier to become one of the (minor heads) on the Flaming Hydra. Writing about Death By Lightning, growing up in Ohio, Hungarian film tax incentives—the usual.

This is petty, but I am mildly disappointed that a 6'3" actor wasn't cast as Ilya Rosanov.

There are many things to say about Wuthering Heights (1847), but to call it (as did one contemporary review) a "compound of vulgar depravity and unnatural horrors" gets it just right, I think.

It is really that good.

For some reason Democratic leaders seem to prefer telling voters what they won’t be able to do, rather than what they’d like to do.

If Hegseth ordered a war crime and lied about it, shouldn’t Ds try for impeachment? Put Rs on the spot. They might get a few defections.

Jeffries says not to expect Democrats to pursue Hegseth impeachment over boat strikes
"Republicans will never allow articles of impeachment to be brought to the floor," he said.

This is, in fact, a fantasy novel called Six Héritiers / Le Secret de Ji #1 by Pierre Grimbert, translated into English by Matt Ross and Eric Lamb.
The kind of fantasy novel where you can't really make sense of it unless you keep a wikipedia tab with the French Revolutionary Calendar open on it while you read

Creating a military conflict with Venezuela gives this administration a legal "hook" to invoke the Alien Enemies Act. In other words, the foreign war is being manufactured in order to facilitate court deference for its domestic mass deportation policy. It's a Stephen Miller Special.
