As someone who gets lots of local history queries, can confirm there's been a big increase in people starting their history research with GenAI/LLM (which just spews out fake facts and hallucinated rubbish) who then wonder why they can't find anything at all to corroborate it.

Yes it happened to me 🫠, I went to a bookstore for a totally plausible old French metaphor book mentioned by ChatGPT a year ago, only to discover that it does not exist.

Like, if you take it in a vacuum it makes it look like an official statement but in context it is very clearly not
so x dot com’s ai generated CSAM and they admitted it may violate US law and … i haven’t seen in anyone in power say much at all or call to stop using the platform

Tech’s #1 push my entire life has been monetization via ad algorithms. My older millennial ass is already teaching my toddlers how evil ads are, I assume many people are as angry with the bonkers amount of ad intrusion in our lives. Hoping the all in on evil proves to be too much for enough folks.

Klein and Thompson rightly recognize the overly litigious legal system is part of the problem. But it should be front and center. The path forward isn’t deregulation; it’s legal reform. Who can sue. Where disputes are heard. What happens when plaintiffs lose. Who can afford legal representation.

When environmental groups do sue, they target ecosystems, water, and climate—not urban housing. The Sierra Club fights groundwater extraction. The Center for Biological Diversity protects endangered species. They’re almost never in court over apartment buildings or affordable housing.

The Abundance movement often points to environmental groups as the obstacles to building. But who actually files the lawsuits blocking projects? It’s not environmental groups. It’s been lawyered-up HOAs protecting property values all along. Regulation by litigation is the problem.

Anyway if some Aus govt with an inordinate fondness for getting walloped by the High Court does ban pro-Palestine marches, what about marches against banning pro-Palestine marches?

Debatable? They've been pretty to clear about their motives, it's suppressing criticism of governments.
Another day, another dubious #ResolvePM issues question wording. Especially wrt Palestine march ban, it's debatable both whether the idea would tackle antisemitism and whether tackling antisemitism is the primary motive of proponents.
