Cost to fund SNAP and keep 42 million people from starving:

$100 billion

Cost of lost revenue due to tax cuts for the richest Americans in the top 1%:

$100 billion

One is decried as "welfare." One is not.

Why?

friends with large accounts, I'm not going to pester you personally but just generally speaking, I would sure appreciate a signal boost on this thing. We seem to have leveled out, and since this is a one-shot (won't be in bookstores) I'd like to get it out there as much as possible.

Singing for Justice is a wonderful hour-long film about legendary folk singer Faith Petric. Some of you may remember Faith's performance at my wedding reception! I admired her a great deal, and hope that you'll take the time to watch on your local PBS station, or stream it on the PBS website.

OPM has stated that a response is not necessary. However, if a response were required, here is their plan: Musk-directed emails to government employees, requesting details on their work over the past week, are expected to be fed into an AI system to assess job necessity.

The AI system will then determine whether an employee should be terminated.

Because, of course, letting AI decide people’s livelihoods seems like a great idea.

Democrats voted yes.

Republicans voted no.
