Behind them is their dorm, where their RAs are watching the residents leave; Kit waves cheerfully but Carlos looks suspicious. The back reads "The first day of college is a big step. Don't let the past trip you up! It's the first day of freshman orientation at Trueman University, and Iro, Kit, Ben, and Sonia are all looking forward to fresh starts. But when a room assignment mix-up throws their plans into disarray, they're forced to reexamine their relationships, confront their pasts, and dig more deeply into who they want to be for the next stage of their lives. Their dorm's R.A. is eager to help whether they like it or not. At least there's free pizza! Included in Book One: Chapter 1, Interlude Iro, Chapter 2, Interlude Kit, Bonus Story (FreshFiction)" A sample of my illustration work. A horned silver dragonborn druid named Caelux examines a strange stone in a wintry tundra. Above him his draconic starry form looms, its outlines glowing and peppered with constellations. The leftmost tower is the tower of Sauron from Lord of the Rings, with the flaming eye of Sauron overhead. It is surrounded by curling mist and has the One Ring at the base of the tower. You Are What You Eat: an image of a book cover illustration and print layout designed by me. The back details the plot and has the following text: “William Wright has a dream. A big, scaly dream: he wants to be a dragon. As a cook in a small café, he spends his days cooking delicious food and his nights making experimental desserts with illegal ingredients from magical creatures. Mama always told him you are what you eat. After a success that tastes like pixie dust, tiramisu and a hangover, a mysterious stranger offers a shady proposition with the promise of a dragon scale. William now faces a tantalizing choice: embrace the stability of his life as a cook or indulge in the exhilarating life of a dragon. Will he savor the sweet taste of freedom or stick to the recipe of normalcy? See that smoke rising in the distance? LYNN FAIOLA has, once again, burned dinner & accidentally set something on fire. They reside somewhere in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains with their two dogs, partner, & progeny, away from well-populated areas.”

The 'Don't do this' one has a bunch of areas circled and a cross under it. The 'Do this' one is exactly the same but without the circles and a tick instead of a cross. The text reads 'Needlessly adding red circles will ruin your art' and a smaller bit of text at the bottom reads 'Bonus tip! Add a tick under all your art so people think you did it right.'

I basically always just draw myself in my default style (True Colors) and try to be relatively accurate to myself. So when I met a bunch of SpiderForest people at SPX this year it was very validating that SEVERAL people said “you look just like your Discord avatar” lmao

You don’t make “content”, you make ART! You write STORIES. Its your WORK (and often play too)!

“Content” is the noise you flick through when trying to find a SHOW you like, don’t cheapen your work comparing it to SLOP. 😤

"Content" is a blatantly misleading term to use for fanworks. Fanworks are the antithesis of content; content is produced for individual gain and consuming, whereas fanworks are created out of inspiration and the communal experience.

This year #SpiderForest did a group event where we all made tarot cards of our webcomics! I picked Wheel of Fortune because it's all about change, cycles, fate, and decisive moments in life. It's also full of symbolism and so is True Colors!

I think… I wanna Kickstart the CorpSet graphic novel next year 🧐

I have a whole completed comic just sitting there! Granted, it’s a multimedia one that I’d have to do some not-insignificant conversions to translate to print. But getting to share it with new audiences makes that even more exciting!

I gotta say though, none of the truly innovative and weird and exciting stuff is made by any of the big pop culture power houses of media and industry.

The game changers are queer disabled weirdos working on mind blowing projects in their living rooms with their queer weird friends.
