This will be my thread concerning my FOIA Request to the EHRC. I think I got some actually worthwhile files, but I'll start with sharing the files so that other people can get their eyes on them.

They provided considerable correspondence between EHRC staff and antitrans orgs.
For what it's worth, this is what I'm waiting for them to respond to.

They're supposed to respond in 4 days. My expectation is that they will give themselves an extension, or deny it with some excuse:
What's this? You mean all the FUD about the dangers of HRT were overblown all along? Que surprise!
This is a good thing, and hopefully it will make hormones more widely available to everyone. Still, it's surreal after years of listening to TERFs talk about these "risks" for this change to just drop.

The Food and Drug Administration will remove the "black box" warning from hormone replacement therapy (HRT) products for menopause.

Trans people can't go one single day without some new attack on our rights, you can afford to read about it on a platform that was built largely by trans people.
But you know that's not what I was saying. I absolutely despair at what the trans community are going through, but it doesn't need to be posted about on every thread on Bluesky?

‘Biological pronouns’, now part of a decision in the US courts, was workshopped in plain sight by British GCs. British GCs have been ascendant in large part due to US funding of their associated fake charities and activist orgs.

Transphobia is an organised, international war effort.

Um, what the actual fk???

No it is not remotely similar to call all trans people pedophiles as it is to hold Kamala accountable for the actions of an administration that she was a senior part of.

First they came for the Palestinians, and I did not speak out because it's just so complicated and if you start to say something, you get called an antisemite and probably lose your job or something and it doesn't change anything anyway. And antisemitism is bad too so who can say what's right?

SCOTUS will decide in the coming weeks how far Trump is allowed to push his dictatorial powers, and I think that should be a much bigger deal than it is, currently.

In a trio of cases, two currently pending before the Supreme Court and one that is likely to land on the justices’ doorstep as soon as Tuesday, President Donald Trump claims new powers that, if he prevails, would give him near-total control over all US fiscal and monetary policy.
Trump asks the Supreme Court to give him total control over the US economy
The next few months could be the most consequential period for US constitutional law since the Roosevelt administration.

one of my spicy takes, for example, is that limits on strikes are unconstitutional under the 13th Amendment, because if we have a right to be free from forced labor, we must necessarily have a right to stop working and negotiate the conditions of our labor
I been saying I don't think Republicans are uniquely capable of creative legal thinking

personally I would like to see more 'if you wanna act funny, I can act hilarious'-type legal arguments in furtherance of good things

I feel like adults should not need to be reminded that the concept of a biological pronoun is meaningless nonsense. But this is where we are right now.

I'm curious if the court thinks all verbal bullying is a matter of free speech, or only when it targets trans people.
BREAKING: The Sixth Circuit, in a 10-7 en banc decision, holds that an Ohio school district's anti-bullying policy that requires students to use children's preferred pronouns is likely unconstitutional on these facts.

Judge Murphy, a Trump appointee, writes the court's decision.

I genuinely don't know what else Americans need to see to know that their government isn't theirs anymore. It's been sold to the oligarchs, it serves the richest, most selfish people on earth.

All but two Senate Republicans voted to murder random innocent fishermen in the Caribbean and the Pacific, and it's hard to overstate how evil that is. These people need to be dragged into a war crimes tribunal.
The Senate has defeated an effort by Democrats to force a war powers vote on the U.S. military buildup re: Venezuela. Sen. Rand Paul R-KY & Sen. Lisa Murkowski R-AK were the only two GOP Senators to break ranks.

SCOTUS has stayed the injunction in the Orr case, meaning that passports issued to trans people are likely to be wrong again. And the text of the decision suggests that the court would reject even a later decision of this sort.

Justice Jackson gave a powerful and correct dissent.
SCOTUS has granted a stay in Trump v. Orr, the trans passport case, meaning that the government will be able to once again deny gender marker changes to trans passport applicants.

This is a terrible decision with horrifying consequences for trans folks.
