I wrote about how the Trump administration won’t let Black people use MATH to prove racism exists.
Apparently, only white self-reporting their own racism now counts as evidence of racism.
The DOJ Just Made It Almost Impossible to Prove Racism Exists
By rolling back “disparate impact" claims, the Trump administration is reducing courts to mere rubber stamps for the white supremacy written into the laws.

Brown University student Mia Tretta talks about the fear and uncertainty of living through Saturday's mass shooting on campus. It was her second school shooting after she survived being shot in the stomach at age 15.

A key theme in my book The Privateers is: right-wing billionaires don’t align on all issues but DO share big priorities of anti-unionism and attacks on public schools.

EX: Koch’s AFP don’t give a $hit about bathrooms/book bans but happy to align w/Moms 4 Liberty to target your local school.

Check out this position paper about evaluating claims in math education. That’s some bold leadership NCSM! #ITeachMath
Math education is complex. It can’t be reduced to single studies or one-size-fits-all claims.

NCSM’s new position paper offers a balanced, equity-centered, research-informed alternative—one that honors the real nuance of teaching + learning.

So...I'm intentionally becoming a burr in the side of our current School Board and Superintendent. I don't really need another huge time commitment, so cross my heart, I promise I'm increasing oversight and advocacy for a multitude of good, student- and teacher-centered reasons.

My fourth graders have learned several of the games from @gfletchy.bsky.social and @tracyzager.bsky.social's Fact Fluency kit for multiplication and division and I love listening in as they play. They love the games and they're skills are growing. The talk as they play is a bonus!

Sorry for the self-promo, but there's a big sale today on my new book about the roots of US public schools.

It's a big weird story.

@jenniferberkshire.bsky.social called it "fascinating and timely."
@palan57.bsky.social called it a "must-read."

Shaking with unspeakable rage and fury over here.
Thanks to his new Tesla pay package, Elon Musk could stand to make $3 billion more per year than all 1.4 million elementary school teachers in the U.S. combined. Still wondering if inequality is out of control?
