This is dumb. Did Trump's pardon of Charles Kushner include anyone else? Did his pardons of Roger Stone & Paul Manafort apply to his former lawyer Michael Cohen? Pardons apply only to the individual they are meant for &, in a properly functioning system, each is considered on its merits.

I have to say, I am genuinely happy for Hunter Biden. The GOP wasted millions investigating Hunter because they wanted to make an example out of him to get brownie points with their voters and to try and hurt Joe’s reelection chances. An absolute misuse of taxpayer dollars and time.

@ericholder.bsky.social is right on his point that "Joe Smith" would not have been charged. Someone who did not use the gun to commit a separate crime, and who paid the owed taxes, would never have been charged.
I reviewed cases like this for charges when I was an AUSA. We would have declined.
