TIL that the gros michel was still the main banana in the 50s. Apparently it has a richer flavor with notes of plantain, which goes a long way towards explaining some of those seemingly absurd 50s recipes with bananas in savory dishes. Recreations have been using the wrong banana!

Finally tried a french dip sandwich (with beefy au jus) for the first time in my life. I get the appeal, that shit is tasty. WAY more sodium than I can eat but fuck it, it was worth it for the one-time experience.

The so-called "Gen Z stare" is not a new weird thing, it's just gray-rocking. It's what some children of abuse learn to do in response to attention to make themselves an uninteresting target for further abuse. This is what happens when society abuses an entire generation.

Shame requires viewpoint context. You won't feel shame unless you think someone who's opinion you care about will be judging you poorly. When a fascist only cares about the opinions of other fascists, they will never be ashamed for it. Our online viewpoint silos killed shame.
