The idea of the “multitude” tried to imagine collective power without hierarchy. But without some way to decide what’s real, it can collapse into noise. In that sense, disordered discourse is the flipped version of a hopeful idea: many voices, but no common ground.

As a German and a historian I'm usually not fond of these kinds of stunts; they tend to simplify and make light of a horrific, and very specific history.
