I popped onto BlueSky for the Archers thread. First up on my timeline was this - could not resist a further dive into the threads. Forty years after I graduated in computer science and the BBC is still writing this tosh about women and STEM
I tried it. This was the exact result.
BBC: Why don't women use ChatGPT?

Woman: I tried it and it just barfed out useless garbage

BBC: Women don't use ChatGPT because it's too difficult for their pretty little heads

Chris Grey has a particularly strong and important entry in his #brexit blog where he forensically addresses the #covid19 enquiry as a stark, depressing and vivid illustration of the calamities of #brexit. Some points to summarise:
What the Covid Inquiry tells us about Brexit. New post on my Brexit & Beyond Blog. Tho' focused on how the Govt dealt with CV-19, the Inquiry reveals what kind of Govt was dealing with Brexit. It'd be absurd to think it was any more competent at that: chrisgreybrexitblog.blogspot.com/2023/11/what...

A couple of hours remaining if you haven't yet had the chance to vote
If you are a National Trust member who hasn’t voted (or doesn’t fully appreciate what is at stake in the AGM) please use the two ‘Quick Vote’ facilities before close of play today - name, membership number and postcode is all you need to log in. We must prevent a private company staging a coup.
You have until midnight tonight to vote. Use the Quick Vote to get the NT’s preferred candidates AND go back and use the Quick Vote on the resolutions too. These Tufton St-backed people have a resolution to get rid of the Quick Vote system so you won’t know who to vote for next year.

Just stumbled across this amazing gallery on Flickr showing the process of revising the Ordnance Survey, but also a series of snapshots of Swindon in 1953/4 with relics of the War, prefabs (lots of prefabs), bins, new housing - which @municipaldreams.bsky.social will enjoy - and much else.

Trials had suggested it was as productive, saved money, improved sickness rates, and helped fill vacancies they’d struggled to previously.

But Tories can’t have something with a better work life balance, they’d have people working 10 hour days, 7 days a week and no leave if they could.

It turns out that I am not the 35 year old in my head but a little old lady. Today I went to see my new GP and as I went to get off the exam couch he held out his hand. I thought he was holding it out to shake it (because reasons) but I have just realised it was to make sure I didn't fall off... 😂

BlueSky, the independent women's football team I support/volunteer for needs your help.

After a MASSIVE comeback win against a higher level team they're through in the cup.

But that means a long coach journey, and there's no prize money to pay for travel. www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/cup-travel...

We aim to show independent teams can win in women's football. We've reached the last 16 in the cup and are raising travel costs for the tie.

A thread worth reading
On 8th Oct 1952 the worst civilian rail disaster in UK history happened in London. 112 deaths. 340 wounded.

That accident, and the actions of one woman from Florida have saved THOUSANDS of lives since.

That disaster helped lead to the creation of paramedics. /1 🧵 www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU60...
