First Image of the year! had a lovely time getting into this once I managed to figure out the colours. will be adapting it into riso prints because I yearn to do some fairs.

My assignment for Winona Nelson's SmArtschool class: Choose a favorite book and illustrate a cover for it.

I picked "The Song of Achilles" by Madeline Miller, and my goal was to capture a similar bittersweet tone as the novel has.

A digital drawing with a few colored studies on one page. Here's a study of Tom Mckay, and some other things - a sword from kcd2, a drawing of beladonna inspired by the drawings in kcd2 books (i tried to mix a real look and a medieval drawing). Also some stars and birds. The traditional texture i used partually on the background is also my own art (done in acrylic, colors altered digitally).

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

You might think from the headline that this is a story about a trans kid suffering medical consequences from a large drug dose but nope! It is just an interview with an estranged father who is angry that his child happily transitioned.

In the final one he learnt that she was booked in for surgery imminently. Now he drives over with birthday presents but is not allowed in. He remembers the last time he saw her, after she had started taking testosterone. Looking at his photographs, he remembers dropping her home: "When she said goodbye, her smile was the same girly shy smile she had as a little girl. Somewhere in there is my daughter."
