Here’s one of my main takeaways: the point of governing is to make people’s lives better, but the point of politics - especially campaigns - is to give people a story about who to blame for things sucking. It’s a real mistake to confuse one for the other, as I have often done!

My piece on processing our emotions and embracing the work of collective survival, reprinted in Truthout. “Humanity is flawed, but our capacity for kindness, connection, and transformation is real, too. Take solace in decency—it’s still there.”
Let’s Move Beyond Blame to Fight for Each Other in the Face of Fascism
While principled critiques are often necessary, let’s communicate like people who still need each other — because we do.

I have something that might be helpful to you all today. I talked with radical therapist Dorian Ortega and healing justice practitioners Tanuja Jagernauth and Chiara Galimberti about trauma, how movement work affects our brains, and some of the tools and practices that can help us heal.
To Transform Our Trauma, We Must Nurture Movements for Change
“PTSD, in many ways, works like a time machine,” says healing justice practitioner Chiara Galimberti.

"We have a mandate to dismantle the regulatory state - and both the power and the will to do so,"

Is explicitly what they ran on and enough of the US has just always had clean water and safe food and some manor of workplace protection that they categorically do not understand what a threat that is.
I really think most people don't appreciate the scale of what's coming.

I haven't said much since Tues because I didn't have anything helpful to say. How do we keep going when America is sliding into authoritarianism? Then I realized: I've been thinking about this for years. I wrote a whole novel (OUR MISSING HEARTS) looking for ways to keep hope alive in darkness.

i know a lot of people are like "live for spite!!!" and i 100% support that if that's what keeps you going but if it doesn't work for you you can live for a variety of reasons, including "read book that isn't out yet", "love", "step on a crunchy leaf", "look at the river", "pat a creature" etc

Just a reminder to support your local public libraries! Write letters of support. Use the library often & in many different ways. Show up to meetings.

Library staff have been begging for help, advocacy, and action for years. Please show up for libraries.
