Passed A&P 1, was *this* close to getting an A but I bombed the lab section and despite a 95 on the final, an 87.5 was the best I could do. Admission to OHSU would be questionable with that (25% acceptance rate), so I’m going to take a term off, rethink my options, and get other things squared away.

*sigh* no Halloween for me this year.

Tonight is studying for A&P tomorrow because after the last lab exam I need every point I can scrape together.

Sunday is a BLS for health care workers course, so Sat night is studying for that.

Sunday night is trying to catch up at work.

Monday is hell.

“Prairie Life”

An older piece with even older origins. My undergraduate years included significant research and exploration time in short-grass prairie ecosystems. These are the organisms and places I still love and cherish from a formative time in my scientific journey. Sacred. (Check alt text)

I am so tempted to use this phrase in a meeting, with just a bit of the Texas accent: “Look, I can’t just puppet junior devs through JIRA tickets, they need skills they don’t have and nobody likes a hand that far up their ass without a whole lot of Crisco.”

I won’t, but the temptation is real.

Every political assassin in the US in my life has always been a weirdo fringe nazi who's mad that the government isn't racist and oppressive enough and in response the government gets more racist and oppressive, so i guess political violence really does work 🤷‍♂️

This is excellent. Just this week I was getting to explain to my Austrian visitors that the Hitler “Man Of The Year” issue was the culmination of an ENTIRE YEAR of propaganda articles about the greatness of Nazi Germany arranged by Goebbels. A lot of normalizing fluff.

It’s true, my most expensive bespoke suit has all of these:

✅ Shape and drape
✅ Specialized fabrics
✅ Willing to put up with discomfort to look good

Fashion experts agree - you’ll look better in a fursuit!

One part of why I like being a race director is the chaos and contingency planning; I say often that an apocalypse is easier for me to deal with than most Tuesdays at work. If that’s really true…why not go to work in an apocalypse?

Starting to put things in motion for a big change that’s long overdue. It’s too early to say “I’m going to do X!”, but I’m getting ready to go back to school part time this winter for EMT-B and pre-reqs, and hopefully into a accelerated post-bacc BSN program by next fall/spring. Paws crossed.
