Cocomelon for adults is a pretty adequate way of describing #sora2.

One could also see it as a precursor to the #matrix. The machines will use it, once it’s capable of fooling all your senses, to enslave humanity.

Hopefully this is just the worst case scenario.

In difficult times we need to be careful with language, and keeping important distinctions in mind can help us, at the very least, from making things worse. For example, there is a difference worth noticing, and noting, between “me speech” and “free speech”."

I'm currently 34. The other day, I held onto my old bus ticket and threw my wallet in the bin.

Some part of my brain must have been working, because I put my wallet in the general bin, not the recycling.

The idea that DOGE will get the Social Security Admin off of legacy COBOL code is not credible. It does not resemble a real federal software system modernization.

What is their real plan?

So, the DOGE kids intend to rewrite the social-security administration's COBOL code-base!

and they want to do it ...

... in *a few months*

I did a huge dive into COBOL a few years ago (www.wealthsimple.com/en-ca/magazi...) ...

... so let me explain why DOGE is *way* over its skis here

You know that perfectly-normal programming cycle where you spend days feeling like an idiot, finally crack the problem, and then get to feel like a genius for a bit?

I've just reached the other side of that. 🥂🥳

A decade ago we made fun of people who used social media to share photos of their lunch, but if everyone had just kept doing that then maybe the world wouldn't be falling apart right now

The Incompetence of DOGE Is a Feature, Not a Bug
A series of mistakes by DOGE shows just how arbitrary and destructive this slash-and-burn strategy can get.

A reminder to everyone everywhere: like all populist parties, the far right always promises to fix problems.

But they are always fundamentally incapable of governing wisely.

Wise decisions require a determined effort to understand the world objectively.

And that is pure poison to populists.
