For the last Saturday before #Christmas, the awesome, breathtaking ceiling of medieval angels which soar high above you in Holy Trinity Church, Blythburgh, Suffolk - the 'Cathedral of the Marshes'

The angels still retain some of their paint colour - incredible 🥰😮

Doggone, I did not know chained libraries were a thing until today when looking up a particular cathedral.

Medieval landlords regularly collected eels as rent. But they didn't always eat them. Sometimes they bought things w/ their eels.

In the early 1200s the Ramsey monks rented a local causeway at the yearly rate of 1 pair of scarlet pants, 2 pounds of pepper & ginger, & 1,000 eels.
