A mystical feel to the woods in Witley last week. When I set off by car it had been sunny but as I reached lower ground it became very misty and I made a diversion to walk through these misty woods.

Photo of a great many conifer trees in a forest. Only the straight, vertical trunks of the trees in the foreground are visible, but green from the pine needles of trees further back can be seen. The closest tree has an almost orange colour to its bark - the rest appear almost monochrome. The forest floor is dead bracken.

Walk with me down this wide dirt trail partially bathed in winter sun. We can hug a tree or two along the way...they're always grateful for that! A little fence beckons at the turn 'keep going, this way' and before we know it there we are looking through the mighty evergreens to the blue blue ocean beneath a bright blue sky.

Today I walked the eucalypts of Sphinx Rock, ripping the lantana vine from some very nice forest. An excellent example of how nice this type of forest can be. Its our most common forest type here in Australia, and even in rainforest areas it tends to dominate the ridges and other high ground.
