No consideration of what young men who want to start a family should do. For men, having children just isn't considered something that significantly affects their job/life choices, because the expectation is that the women should work it out without impacting their men's lives.

"One Word Describes Trump" www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

I missed this on its first trip around, then saw it on the "most popular with readers" list for 2025. Recommended, despite the cheesy headline.

Especially valuable if you have ever compared him to a mob boss.

4. The most common: People who feel that others do not afford them the respect to which they are entitled or that society is rewarding the wrong people for the wrong things
There are 3 types of Trump supporter.
A. The incurably stupid
B. Those with a financial interest.
C. Those who wish to impose their cultural views on everyone.

Two of my Trumper friends - from childhood - routinely complained to me about how America has screwed them over: One calling from his boat, the other from his in-ground pool.
You can imagine what I said to them, and at what volume
Many Trump supporters are people who don’t believe they are rich simply because they have to go to work every day
This might seem funny until you realize how many professionals - including engineers, doctors, etc - supported Trump.

Theres a foolish impulse by legacy media that if & when they cover most stories, it’s simply time to move on. Trump’s ceaseless corruption, criminality, cognitive decline & compulsive, narcissistic hatred gets glossed over in the process. I for one won’t move on until he’s gone & held accountable.
How are these fits of presidential incontinence never covered as their own news events in NYT? Hours of sick hateful bile from the curdled joyless leader of the Christian nationalists sitting in the ruins of the tinsel trimmed White House he’s demolishing — seems like a story to me.

If they can drive people out of rural spaces, or make them so desperate that they’ll accept any job at any pay rate, they can bring in large corporate farms and there is no one to protest the environmental impacts or force them to pay their fair share in taxes.

You can watch the 60 Minutes piece (with a link in my story) about the abuse & torture migrants received in the El Salvador gulag after being deported by the Trump regime without due process & lies about their criminality. This horror is what Trump apologist Bari Weiss didn’t want Americans to see.
Bullseye from 60 Minutes journalist Sharyn Alfonsi in response to Bari Weiss: “If the administration’s refusal to participate becomes a valid reason to spike a story, we have effectively handed them a ‘kill switch’ for any reporting they find inconvenient.”

Snapshot: Rejecting the Regime's 'Kill Switch'
CBS News' Bari Weiss blocked a rigorous '60 Minutes' story about the brutal CECOT prison. This is not tolerable.

A government that can officially declare that Jesus is your savior can just as easily declare the opposite.
Here’s the U.S. government being officially religious in a country with no official religion.

America is not now, and never has been, a Christian nation.

In fact, it was *explicitly* designed *not* to be.

Most of us learned this in junior high—at the latest.

But Vance is a white nationalist who’ll say or do anything to get even a *shred* more power, so this perversion of our history fits.
JD Vance gets the biggest applause of his speech so far when he says "by the grace of God we always will be a Christian nation"

Handwaving away your party’s embrace of antisemitic conspiracy theories by saying “at least we’re not controlled by George Soros” is the most ridiculously quiet-part-loud thing I’ve ever seen.

Trump stole it from housing, turned it into checks in a symbolic amount, and pretended it was all his idea.

Typical Trump. Gold plated, not solid gold.

Almost a year into this presidency, Trump voters have gotten nothing except the Big Beautiful Bill, which was usual Republican politics of giving tax cuts to the rich and slashing social spending for the poor. Housing remains unaffordable, cost of living is rising, and manufacturing jobs fell.
