Today in "takes I don't understand": "I don't believe cis people exist"

- do you believe there's such a thing as being a man or a woman?
- is there a reason people who are assigned the matching gender at birth are excluded from being that thing?

It's like the prevalence of lefthandedness; much higher than when it was supressed

#novelmber 4) introduce a supporting character

Ilse, co-founder of the Noether Club for the Occult. Tall and broad, large hands deft and gentle with fragile objects. Likes electronics and playing bass guitar, dislikes rule breakers and being made to play the voice of reason.

honestly i'm just flailing around being like "aaaa how do we communicate to each other when we can only use words and never convey our experiences fully?"
well, with poetry and prose, mostly, and a lot of metaphors. but that convo can't start until we realize how bugfuck varied human experience is.

hm - that gets me thinking: I hypothesize a part of alexithymia comes from how we learn to label emotion: basically we display emotion and our parents/surroundings guess what the emotion is and name it for us. "Oh, you're crying, you must be sad!"
learning to name one's gender might work similarly.

gender is not an experience I have. when I learned some people had a deep knowledge of being a man or a woman I was first puzzled, then wondered how one obtained that knowledge: was there a quiz?
there isn't. some people have the experience of knowing they are a particular gender. I don't.

My protagonist is Yasha, a perpetual grad student currently working on an MA in English lit feat chivalric romances. He's completely over his ex boyfriend and isn't concerned about him at all, and and has only stayed in the same city for five years because moving is such a hassle. #novelmber

3) Who's your main character?
November 3, 2024 at 3:44 PM
(1/2) In the secret recesses of his heart, Yasha has always been fond of autumn. There was something about a brisk walk among crisp fallen leaves, rainwater washing the air anew, one's scarf slung just so around one's neck, the very image of a brooding poet-slash-academic.

I'm working on "Marsupoly: A game of Dice and Wombat".
It's a LitRPG/Isekai story, about a person who gets reincarnated into a world that works like an RPG, but based on a Monopoly board.
And he gets reincarnated as a wombat, whose cube-shaped... leavings are the dice he uses to move.

hmm. i still don't have a firm enough grasp of the story (I like to have at least the major beats fairly well understood before I start writing)

let's try another way: what about this story is most likely to sucker-punch me in the feels?

INCORRECT: Trans women have received Male Socialization and will reproduce patterns of behaviour associated with men

CORRECT: Trans women tend towards the psychological profile you'd expect from women who've been gaslit about their own sense of identity throughout their formative years.

Authors, this is your occasional reminder to never shut up about your books

but also

To talk about them a little differently each time.

I just bought a book I’ve seen on the tl 20+ times. Something about the last promo just clicked for me.

Not even sure what it was.

Anyway

NEVER SHUT UP

Haunt, original m/m/m novel, starry eyed idealist/cynical bastard/even more cynical bastard so spiteful he wraps back around to loving, plus consensual(ish) possessions by not-so-friendly spirits
