Rereading your original tweet: I know quite a few people who are like. Very aware of everything you said and still very definitely the same gender they were assigned at birth.

Cis by default is a thing, but so is cis with strong gender identity.

Yeah; so if the definition of cis is "someone the same gender they were assigned at birth", many people are somewhere on the general spectrum of what they were assigned, in my experience. Are you using a different definition?

It might be interesting to look at the high correlation between being trans and autistic, which some people hypothesize is because autistic people are less likely to deny truths they know about themselves.

As in, nobody is their assigned at birth gender? I'm pretty sure that's false. Unless you're saying womanhood or manhood aren't things at all, which would seem pretty dismissive of many peoples experiences.

the alexithymia part comes in when our expression of our emotions or the circumstances in which they arise is atypical.
if somebody hates to be touched, and they are told hugging someone is how you show love, what does that tell them about love?

(what's my point? idek. experiences matter, identities matter, the two correlate but are never identical.)

ime, human identities never have a single factor that determines belonging to the group or not. there isn't one trait X one can use to say "people with X belong and people without don't" - human categories just don't work that way. nothing is binary.

personally, I find it much easier to define spaces not by identity but by needs.
"this is a space where people discuss their genitals from a health perspective" or "this is a space to complain about misogyny (including trans-) without being talked over" > "women* only space"

oh dear, do I want to ask?

what else does being a woman mean? fuck if i know, ask someone who is one what it means to her.
November 4, 2024 at 11:10 AM
also: some men or women do not possess this intristic knowledge. for some other reason, they know themselves to be the gender they are.
this is my current definition of a woman: someone who says she's a woman. this correlates - never 100% - with some other factors, such as using she/her pronouns.
