AOC on Randy Fine: “This is genuinely one of the most disgusting statements I have ever seen issued by an American official — It should not stop shocking us that the Republican Party openly embraces this — Fine should be censured & stripped of committees. To ignore this is to accept & normalize it”

A related version of this is the folks acting like it’s some sort of sage wisdom to be constantly prepared for an absolute worst case type scenario, when in reality that’s just anxiety and/or leftwing prepperism (often under the guise of “raising awareness” of something)
I am not v interested in continuing the “the Democrats will betray us on #$ISSUE the moment they get into power” B/S because a. There’s no way to falsify it and b. It’s fundamentally rooted in a nihilistic doomerism that nobody believes anything, we’re all gonna get betrayed, nothing matters anyways

I fully agree! Everyone stands to benefit from establishing “vote blue no matter who” now. Leftists can demand the support of the center if they win a primary, and vice versa. It’s crazy not to insist on this as a principle for all voters opposed to MAGA
VBNMW can't just be an obligation. It also needs to be a promise. The left edge of the coalition needs to know that by promising to support a centrist who wins their primary, they are also receiving a promise that a leftist who wins one gets supported from the center.

BREAKING: The Department of Education has ended its directive that attempted to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in schools nationwide.

This is a victory for academic freedom and education equity.

I find it really incredible that the concept of “vote blue no matter who” is so hard for some to grasp. It doesn’t mean “all Democrats are good.” It means “vote for the Democrat against the Republican.”

In their November races, Fetterman, Masto, Platner, Booker, Newsom are the correct choices
No, let’s say the quiet part out loud:

Vote Blue, No Matter Who itself has been a failure of a test. Very clearly, we need to better evaluate politicians we’re supporting blindly.

John Fetterman, Graham Platner & his tattoo, Catherine Cortez Masto, Corey Booker, GAVIN NEWSOM?!?

Think! Critically!
Chuck Schumer spectacularly failed the “vote blue no matter who” test and should be hounded from office

Also the Dems have moved significantly to the left over the last 30 years (though not nearly as quickly or radically as the GOP moved to the right).

Obama was significantly to the left of Bill Clinton, and Biden to the left of Obama.

Literally everything you can say bad about Gavin Newsom is fine as long as it is not "if you nominate him I'll stand by and let the nazis win" because that makes you sound like a fucking monster

Saying "Vote blue no matter who" with regard to the 2028 presidential race is literally the only morally acceptable position. What scenario do you foresee that it would be better to vote against the Democrat?
Trump and his chosen candidates should lose.
But also, committing to "vote blue no matter who" turns you into a mindless loyalist that the worst people within the "blue" category would love to take advantage of.
Don't give up leverage before you're even at the negotiation table. How is this hard?
Anyway, not to belabor this, but this is a citywide elected in Minneapolis refusing to say whether or not voters should vote for the Democratic presidential candidate in 2028, calling it an unfair "litmus test," and suggesting abstaining is okay because MN always votes for Dems (Trump lost by 4%)

This is delusional to a degree that’s disturbing. The liberals and progressives on this site and elsewhere who are feeding these sorts of delusions, for the sake of earning clout and retweets, need to have a really hard think about the impact of the disinformation they’re spreading.

Do you... know what Republicans are doing to trans people? What?
I absolutely refuse to vote for Gavin Newsom if he’s the nominee in 2028. Shame me all you want, but it just isn’t happening. He won’t protect my trans daughter any better than whoever his Republican counterpart is.
you have to vote for the democrat in november 2028.

any other option - voting republican, not voting, voting third party - is completely and totally morally unacceptable and should result in your expulsion from polite society

How is it possible that Kristi Noem still has this job. Imagine if you’re a family member or a shipmate of this guardsman.

Because the left has many habitual abstainers whose politics amount to finding reasons to not engage in politics, and since that tendency is rooted in their own laziness and incapacity instead of real-world analysis, they rationalize their way back to it even when the choice is “fascism, or not.”
I don't get how so many people don't understand that when given the choice of "vote for a Nazi" and "vote for someone else" this should not be a tricky one that they abstain from.

Because I don't *trust* voters who would damn the world to fascism in a fit of pique. Redlines go both ways. If you can't commit to the Alliance, you're not my ally. Newsom is garbage, but he's not a fascist. I will work my ass off to deny him the nomination, but if I fail in that he has my vote.

Everyone left of center is working overtime to maneuver themselves into the personally advantageous position of always criticizing Dems, never defending them. But if we all do that we're going to have a heck of a time ever digging out of this hole. Someone has to bite the bullet and be honest.
