Writing tip: Don’t become too attached to tropes. Multifaceted characters will often suit different dynamics, and can even swap roles if observed from different perspectives.
Tropes are a guideline, but overcommitting to them often limits creativity and depth.

This is fascinating, and as someone who has a chronic cough from vagus nerve damage from an infection 25 years ago, I know that it can screw up things you’d never expect. Reading this, there’s lots of conditions it mentions that make me think mine has been angered and is acting out.
