This is simply not technically possible. You cannot generate enough writing in-house to train an LLM. You cannot generate enough art in-house to train a GAN. People who think they have a model "trained on our own material" are using a base model of mass-scraped data, unknowingly or disingenuously.
Larian CEO says Divinity could have gen AI assets in it but only if the tools are trained on the studio's own data.

"If we use a GenAI model to create in-game assets, then it'll be trained on data we own."

the larian stuff sucks to hear a lot. you have to be a true all-timer loser to think generative AI is useful for concepting ideas or artwork. you let the machine do the fun part you dumbass. it doesnt tell me you think efficiently it tells me youre a fuckass who's given up on being interesting

"placeholder text" "concept art" either the temporary thing you put in matters to the process, in which case you need to get a human to work on it, or it doesn't, in which case you can just as easily put a bright pink rectangle that says PLACEHOLDER in and save everyone time and effort

Using gen ai for text and asset placeholders is not solving a problem; games have been made for decades with regular placeholders. studios using AI this way are just testing the water to see what more they can get away with - which will inevitably mean laying off skilled workers, to make worse games

far and away my most hated software trend of the last 3 years is bundling old, useful features alongside LLM horseshit i don't want and putting them all under one fucking setting.

gmail now has gemini tied directly to their existing email categorization feature! can't have one without the other!

I realized I’ve been sort of mourning the internet lately. It’s odd. This ‘place’ that used to contain a wealth of actually valuable information, and introduced me to many people I now call friends, and which paved the way for my career, has almost completely rotted away. It’s not coming back.
Do you ever think about the fact that Wikipedia is the last good major website on the internet? You aren't bombarded with ads. It doesn't try to push video on you, and it doesn't redirect you to a scam site.

Somewhat hilariously, YouTube's restricted mode hides my most recent video on reading game guides, but DOESN'T hide my video on the Nuremberg Trials.

My major takeaway is DON'T SELF-CENSOR YOUR OWN WRITING. You don't know what will or will not be restricted!! Do not comply in advance!!!

Hey it's me. But yeah, I can enjoy difficulty in games but having to repeat content lot is the reason I struggle with any roguelites and Soulslikes.
One of the hardest things for me to accept (for me) is that most people (80%) just don’t like the feeling of dying and having to retry things in video games. They just HATE doing shit over and over.

Said this on Remap this week but the “pro-big titty triple A game too woke stop censorship” crowd is real quiet over the censorship happening on steam and itch rn. Why is that? Because it was never about censorship.

As a maker of exceptionally sexless art, I just wanna say publicly that any attempt at censorship of the arts is to be resisted. NSFW art is always an easy target, but it’s also always only the first step in a chain, not to mention the artistic value of this stuff in its own right.

This is insane. Payment providers should not have the power to do this.
Games marketplace Itch.io has removed “all adult NSFW” content from search results and browse pages, following scrutiny from payment processors.

The platform says the content will undergo a comprehensive audit, with "some pages being permanently removed."

This blows. The fact that these payment processors have so much power over Steam and Itch is so bleak. We keep seeing this shit where reactionary action against a few harmful actors take so many other numerous casualties with them.
