Obscenity laws are inherently just a tool to reinforce that status quo. It's a card that judges can pull whenever they don't like something and can plausibly say that "obviously the general public would find this obscene." This is not something firmly codified into law, and can push individual bias.

As always, obscenity laws need to go. porn has always been one step from illegal in the US because there was an unspoken, untouched middle ground where everyone agreed being nasty is against the law but almost nothing counted as "nasty." The agreement is broken and everything is about to count.
Not even merely draconian age verification.
The AG buried the lede as the rule does not specify porn but “material harmful to minors,” the same language used to ban Pride merch in FL and managa in TX.

As always, obscenity laws need to go. porn has always been one step from illegal in the US because there was an unspoken, untouched middle ground where everyone agreed being nasty is against the law but almost nothing counted as "nasty." The agreement is broken and everything is about to count.
