Since the start of COVID, the number of people reporting a disability soared. Yet the majority of the world acts like COVID is over, and Long COVID doesn't exist.

Hell of a time to be writing a new novel whose entire central message is “you should have empathy and stand up for your principles regardless of the reward because it’s the right thing to do” while our allies abandon that left and right

You were conned into infection, and you took the bait, hook, line, and sinker. Accept your mistake and correct course, before it's too late. Reinfection damages accumulate. You will regret living in denial.

COVID IS NOT OVER. NOT BY A LONG SHOT.

There are too many pressing problems now that too many people aren’t comfortable discussing: climate/collapse, COVID, bird flu, fascism, etc. I get it. I want peace of mind, too. But you can’t grapple with a problem without first facing it.

People who don't live in the US who are complaining about how much we're posting about the administrative coup and the billionaire tech bro assholes (and their twerp lackeys) who are looting our government: Trust me, we hate it more than you do. It's just kind of an inescapable topic over here.

Living to tell the story: Lawsuit accuses ER doctor of anti-Indigenous racism
Two years ago, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba apologized and accepted responsibility for failing to fairly treat Indigenous patients. But has it made any difference?

I am sick of people forgetting that rural people exist and may not have options when it comes to refusing to shop at particular stores. Every grocery store in my Southern NM community gave in to anti DEI BS. The nearest Costco is 4 plus hours away in Northern NM or Texas. Aldi about the same.

This is your friendly reminder that if your disability accommodations aren't being met, or are treated as an inconvenience by your family, then it's time to find a new family.

not that it will change most people's minds, but perhaps shame some people into treating us like humans

With Joann closing, and it being the most widespread source of garment fabric, we’re gonna need a tutorial on understanding fabric (and thus how to buy it online if there’s no garment fabric near you), huh?

I couldn’t have freelanced without the ready availability of Joann. This is kind of a death rattle for certain kinds of crafts.

Most of the independent fabric stores near me either shut down or went specialty, usually quilting. From a costuming perspective, where were you gonna find velvet?

Just a reminder; I immediately unsubscribe from any YouTuber who says they’re excited for the Harry Potter show, and also give side eye to any creator who covers Harry Potter news who does not at least passingly mention JK Rowling’s bigotry.

Typically, in a #measles outbreak, the CDC would issue a Health Advisory Notice to inform the public & guide protective measures. But the current political climate has muted their response. Without clear, timely information, the measles outbreak in Texas risks spreading within the state & to others.
