Some MPs are saying that our existing climate targets are good enough—that we don't need the Climate & Nature Bill.

Please, just take 1 minute to watch this quick explainer.
I'll be amazed if you don't change your mind.

#Rugulopteryx invasive #seaweed continues to spread.

👉 Ara s’ha trobat al port Olímpic de #Barcelona, dins els treballs de seguiment d’espècies invasores que fa el #CEAB amb l'Agència Catalana de l'Aigua 📈

Great to see some progress on #climate #adaptation

It will also make a HUGE difference if we can all learn how to:

#ConsumeLess and
#CareMore

Even the wealthiest countries have left it too late to avoid frequent widespread #climatecrisis fuelled disasters (fires AND floods)!

We urgently need sustainable economic and social change to prepare us for more disasters, while trying to reduce impact.

'Blue hydrogen' is hydrogen made from natural gas, the friendly-sounding name for methane—a highly potent greenhouse gas.

The fossil fuel industry hopes to inject it into the gas grid for heating homes.

But it’s as bad as coal for the climate, as @kevinclimate.bsky.social and I explained here.
Warning: the UK government's hydrogen plan isn’t green at all, it’s another oil industry swindle | Kevin Anderson and Simon Oldridge
A taxpayer-funded drive for ‘blue’ hydrogen is good news for fossil-fuel lobbyists, but bad news for the climate crisis, say climate academics Kevin Anderson and Simon Oldridge

Happy 2025 🌞

2050 is fast approaching our precious planet!

Is there just enough time for us all to learn how to:

#ConsumeLess and #CareMore

What gives you inspiration about #ClimateAction ?

How do we tackle the hard earned hypocrisy of our ‘modern’ lifestyles?

Exponential #population growth continues but driven by aging.

As countries develop, they tend to have less babies.

Prof Hans Rosling eloquently showed ‘Peak Child’ at around 2bn in the early 2000s.

Learning to #ConsumeLess and #CareMore seems to be the humane and viable way forward! 🌍

Recycling battery minerals in Europe will reduce the need for primary ores.

This could avoid the need to build 12 new mines globally by 2040, cutting the associated negative impacts of mining on water, soil and biodiversity.

We need global #ClimateAdaptation to prepare us for what’s coming as we reach the #climate #TippingPoint

"Rare Earth" is a really good programme. Thank you so much for doing it. The series is one of the best (the best?) I have been able to find. Really necessary, informative and important programmes. BBC Radio 4 www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

Excellent #BBCRareEarth show - it made me wonder …

As we are facing the #Climate #TippingPoint

… will we end up like the dwindling #Amazon Tapir population …

just “individuals wondering through the landscape trying to survive somehow …”!? 🌍🤔

Recently we’ve had an out pouring of papers warning of a higher-earlier likelihood of AMOC collapse. It’s due to studies now better factoring in fresh water melt from Greenland. Here’s a simplified animation on how it works & an article about a new study.

📢Global Carbon Budget 2024📢

Despite some predicting a peak in global fossil CO2 emissions, we estimate growth of 0.8% [-0.3% to 1.9%] in 2024. Maybe a peak next year?

Is it all bad news, or can we find some good news?
