Well, if nothing else my pixel art skills have improved in the last 6 or 7 years.
Here's an old sprite compared to it's new replacement.
Just for a rusted warfare mod, but I had some fun making it.
An old sprite for a strange, winged creature. Two small blue-ish orbs are just infront of the wings sticking out of the long body. The wings have some blue blocky effect on them. Two more recent sprites. To the left is a dark coloured insect-like thing with a jagged shell and four legs, and green showing through the back of the shell. To the right is a newer version of the winged creature. There is now some shading on the body, and the blue-ish orbs are larger and more detailed. The wings are now hollow frames with fleshy veins stretching across them like spider webs.

Biking to work reduces the odds of dying from cancer by 51%! You’d think transit planners would find the hell out of bike lanes given how much money that saves to public and the government. Even “fiscal conservatives” can’t debunk the obvious societal good and savings from that.

I just spent far, far too much money on a pair of old books.

Although a lot cheaper than what they'd have costed online, so I guess that's a win.

His friend studied him, and Tad had a flash of how they’d laughed together when they were younger, when Helen wasn’t married or the alpha of her own pack. When Helen had tumbled repeatedly into bed with Tad’s brother, Josiah, and gone running in the moonlight repeatedly with both brothers. Helen let out a huff of breath and nodded as if she’d made some decision. The next thing he knew, Helen was pulling him out of his room and closing the door behind him. “I put it off as long as I could manage, but you’ve been here three weeks. You’ve got to do more than grab food at meal time before disappearing. I’ve come to collect you because I need to present you to the pack and to our allies. Standard procedure ‘round here, lil’ pup.” “Not little,” Tad grumbled at her, which only made Helen smile again. Problem was, he couldn’t exactly tell her that he’d only ever put up with Josiah calling him that. Tad couldn’t even think about his brother, the man who’d come up with that nickname almost two centuries ago, without wincing. “I am glad you came here. We werewolves aren’t good on our own.” Helen must have sensed something of his thoughts because her smile softened and she bumped his shoulder with his own. “Now come on. We should get downstairs before the meeting begins in about,” she paused to look at her wrist, “shit! Two minutes.”

Text Snippet: “Bloody hell,” a voice called out, somewhere above me, “Hey, someone actually alive down there?” Someone had heard me. Wonderful, that was the last thing I needed. I remained silent, looking around the hole for something to use as a temporary weapon. The best option seemed to be roots poking out of the earthen sides of the hole. I had just begun pulling out a usable root when the voice called out once more. “Oi, can you hear me? That didn’t sound like no death rattle,” they hollered. The voice was feminine, though with a low, smoky timbre. “Hello down there…don’t tell me you’ve gone and passed out or somethin’…” My frustration surged in me, overpowering my better judgement. “No! I haven't passed out!” I shouted back, unable to contain my exasperation. “Ah! She speaks!” the enigmatic woman rejoiced, her voice brimming with joy. “Thought for sure with an impact like that you’d be dead. Usually they drop new arrivals over the water. How’d you go about findin’ yourself plummeting to the ground like that?” “Does it really matter?” I grumbled, looking around the walls of the hole. The roots were slender and weak, difficult to make use of as a handhold. “No, suppose not,” the woman responded. “Okay, next query, what’s your state? You in danger of expirin’ any time soon?” I sighed, casting my gaze briefly down at my mangled leg. At least that was an easy answer. “No, I shan't be expiring any time soon.” “Shiny! This keeps gettin’ better and better.” The more she said, the more certain I became that this stranger was an adult woman, not a Lost One. She spoke with an unusual accent I struggled to place, nothing from the British Isles. It had a hint of a muddied Australian twang, but that wasn’t quite right, either.

So much of the pain I had experienced in my life came from phantoms. My arm, the ghosts of all the dead that haunted me—my dreams. These days, with my metal arm replacing the flesh arm I had lost, I rarely experienced the excruciating throb that had tormented me in the empty space after my arm was severed, but sometimes it returned in my memories, a pain I couldn't ease because it was a pain made from absence. In my dreams, I became again an armless serf girl wearing a plain dress and a sleeve folded and pinned shut to accommodate my stump. But instead of wandering my father's villa, where I had been sentenced to remain and serve after my titles were stripped and my name revoked, I wandered through a temple as if I was the ghost.

She made a mental note to have her ship scanned for surveillance before she left. “Drake.” The man put down his glass, which looked suspiciously like water.“I’ve said you could call me ‘Dom.’” “Yeah no. What do you want, Drake?” “My bosses are wondering where their prisoner is.” “Your bosses can go f**k themselves. This woman has a bounty on her head because she’s dangerous and smart.
