Renewables routinely generate more than half of U.K electricity.

They also generate thousands of jobs, reduce our exposure to volatile gas prices, and allow us to stick two fingers up to fossil-fueled dictators.

It's international men's day, men are suffering from social isolation as a result of breakdown of community, the pressures and strains of being a man trying to fit into societal expectations can feel tough. We need to feel like we can talk more

A reminder: The Attorney General of the United States should be the people's lawyer, not the president's personal attorney. The Department of Justice should act to protect the public, not just the occupant of the Oval Office and his political allies.

There were 93 homicides in London last year: population 9 million

In New York - population 8.5 million - there were
391.

London's homicide figure is 6 times lower than LA, 9 times lower than Miami, 17 times lower than Chicago.

And it's falling year on year despite the population increasing

London is also diverse. It's hugely multicultural, and it's a largely tolerant and welcoming place.

Sure it has it's problems and the housing crisis is a big one.

But the haters don't hate this city because of that.

They hate it because it stands as living proof that multiculturalism works.

There's lots you can and should criticise the BBC for.

But it's our BBC - and it's important.

Great to speak to CNN - Donald Trump shouldn't have his hands anywhere near our public services.
Zack Polanski on President Trump, "It's difficult to call him anything other than a fool"

"This is sociopathic behaviour"

"He is toxic, misogynistic, racist"

"I'm not a fan of Trump"

Christiane Amanpour, "It's pretty clear"

Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

Thoughts with all the people affected and their families with the awful incident on the train in Cambridgeshire.

Thank you to all the emergency services and brave members of the public.

It’s painfully clear. By refusing to swear in Adelita Grijalva, Speaker Johnson’s covering up Jeffrey Epstein’s global sex-trafficking ring.

Hey GOP: Bring back the House, cancel your health care cuts, reopen the government and release the files.

Every other national party leader was interviewed by Laura Kunesberg during their conference.

Maybe the BBC thought as someone who also supports Palestine - I had nothing to say?

Being told that immigrants are the problem with our country whilst seeing all riots/civil unrest caused/attended by 95% of white men is a faint disconnect

And how is Musk still being given a platform? He has publicly invited violence and called for our gov to be overthrown

How is that okay...

The private industry will CRUMBLE without public infrastructure.
in pretty much every domain, and not just through research, private industry *exists* because of public funding, public infrastructure, etc. It is a baby held up by its mother, thinking it can stand on its own two feet.
Right, but a lot of important foundational research isn't profitable right up until it is. Private industry used to be able to count on the government to fund the years of research it can take to get to the profitable part. Now it's just not going to happen.

if stuff "just works" where you live-the water's clean, trash goes away, bridges don't collapse--you can live in an illusion that
a) this place is clean because YOU are clean (not because it is cleanED for you)
b) maybe you don't need those services anyway (bc you don't understand what they do)
