Elon's little serfs are quite literally begging journalists to come back because every publicly available source of data shows people have fled the platform and young people won't use it.

They are literally begging regular people to come back. Don't do it! It is a website by and for actual Nazis!

one thing that is true for everyone reading this: unless something changes dramatically the number of people who agree with you on what basic facts constitute "reality" will shrink every year for the rest of your life

ChatGPT gave a significant portion of my students the wrong answer to an easy quiz question that everyone used to always get right

I had two groups of students turn in annotated bibliographies that were ChatGPT generated - not a single citation actually existed

Wait, hold up —

Are you trying to tell me you DO NOT have to fire thousands of employees and destroy your definitive franchises and shutter studios every three months?
To counter rising development costs, Nintendo is going to explore making games with shorter development cycles.

They are also making investments in their development teams to preserve the way they've always made games.

More things that are OUT OF the author’s control:

📕 How (or *if*) the publisher markets your book (book trailers, ads, social media, award subs, etc)
📕 Whether your book makes any lists or wins any awards
📕 How readers respond to your book, period
📕 THE STATE OF THE ECONOMY WHEN YOUR BOOK COMES OUT
*gently grabs your face so we can discuss things that are COMPLETELY OUT OF THE AUTHOR'S CONTROL*
- if the book is made into a movie/show
- if the book is PB or hardcover or has sprayed edges or signed editions
- if the book is in a cool book box
- if the book is a Monthly Pick at B&N

Do you guys still shit post? No? You don’t have social media. Fuuuuuuuck man you’re not making this easy. Do you still have forums? Right well in the early days of the internet there was a website called somethingaweful and they banned a 16 year old called moot - I promise this is important

in Germany a lot of this was a reaction to the war years and the failed promises of German imperialism, but you see similar dynamics all over. Fascism's greatest supporters are mediocre people born in comfort who need someone to blame for the fact that they don't have more.

i think a lot of this comes back to the fact that Hitler's early life was one of intense deprivation and loss. he wasn't the only Nazi like that but by and large his followers and voters were not reacting to their objective poverty or privation, but the FEELING that they ought to have more.
You cannot possibly believe that. People do bad things out of material deprivation, sure, but that is explicitly not why they turn to fascism. Fascism, as a mass movement, unites the bourgeois and proletariat not on material concerns, but fantastical ones - what one calls 'false consciousness'.

the percentage of churnalism that's just repurposing press releases is only ever going to increase at this point. this isn't the first draft anymore - it's dot points scribbled hastily to post article 4/5 for the day
Everyone I knew who covered disinformation got laid off, their bosses got bullied into firing them, or they changed their beats from actual Nazi harassment campaigns. It cannot be stressed the damage the paid-for Substack “free speech” guys did in the service of fascism and against real free speech.

do not install any app from Facebook or Meta on any device. Ideally avoid installing ANY social media app. Login through a browser.

I highly doubt Facebook is the only company pulling this shit

Nothing more natural than seeing an armed stranger and asking, "have you got no fucking home of your own?"
