NEW: No, Charlie Kirk was not practicing politics the right way. That's what Ezra Klein said. We can condemn this heinous assassination but also recognize that with his 2020 election denialism and extremist rhetoric, Kirk built his movement with falsehoods and in a wrong and divisive manner.
No, Charlie Kirk was not practicing politics the right way
His assassination deserves full condemnation; his full impact should not be sidestepped.

Alex (@radicalcopyeditor.bsky.social) I are deeply grateful for the invitation to talk about the current attack on trans folks with Beth Berila on her Changemaking Connections podcast. We need cis folks to show up in larger numbers and with the tools to dispel the lies underlying these attacks.
The current attack on Trans communities is inhumane & escalating. If you & people in your community support LGBTQ+ communities, please listen and share.

Teo Drake & Alex Kapitan share insightful analysis and context around how this attack arose & how it is eroding Trans rights.

This was such a satisfying project, and one in which I realized for the first time how much my whole life had been spent in a manscape, in places where almost everything was named after men.
#WomensHistoryMonth: The City of Women Map is a fascinating visualization of women’s history and urban transportation. Created by Molly Roy, Rebecca Solnit, and Joshua Jelly-Schapiro, the map renames subway stops after notable women with links to that area, offering an entirely new way to view #NYC.

If, for example, Trump says nobody is allowed to dance, on penalty of death, he has no legal power to make that declaration and no power to enforce it, but if everyone stops dancing it's as good as if he did. Reporting as though Trump has these powers helps give him those powers.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Alaska is the most dependent on federal aid while California (49) and New Jersey (50) are least dependent, contributing far more than they receive.

Frightening and just so exhausting
1. The state department has removed transgender people from its website and just reads "LGB Travelers," as reported by a number of journalists.

However, on further investigation, it is also removing trans-specific directions for individual countries.

State Department Travel Safety Website Changes "LGBTQI+ Travelers" to "LGB Travelers"
The change is an attempt to insert a divide in the LGBTQIA+ community by the Trump administration, and to erase transgender people from any consideration or recognition.
