Drawing on Thomas Paine’s proposal for a 100% wealth tax and the backdrop of today’s economy—where billionaires line up behind the president and wield immense influence over policy—they argue that limiting vast fortunes is essential to protecting democracy. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...
The case for taxing billionaires is older than you think
A wealth tax, with a top rate of 100%, is common sense.

3. Major economic damage is coming as climate risk wallops home insurance, and cascades into mortgage market failure and property values crash. Buckle up.

2. There's one path left to climate safety, and it's making polluters pay the costs of their pollution - nothing else will work. Free-to-pollute must end.

Border Patrol was created in 1924 and tasked with patrolling the border. At the time there really wasn’t much interior enforcement. The INS did some, but it wasn’t a big part of the system until later in the 20th century, and Border Patrol didn’t really want to do it, given their historical mission.
Before you started correcting people on this, I kind of thought ICE was created as an interior immigration enforcement branch, as distinct from the border patrol's focus on the border. But if border patrol already operated throughout the country, what was the point of making ICE?
