I would love for someone like Zack to turn to Andrea and say: "are you going to contribute to this conversation with any meaningful facts or are you going to keep acting like a child having a tantrum? Because if it's the latter, I'm struggling to see the point of your being on this programme."
Zack Polanski, "It's not about me vs Nigel Farage"

"It's about his form of hate and division"

*Andrea Jenkyns starts moaning*

"Vs the politics of doing something about a broken system"

*Andrea Jenkyns moans even more professing: oh my god*

"About tackling inequality and offering hope to people"

It's actually nice to be on a platform where their primary aim isn't for you to produce free content for them, or have them try and push you towards content as a means of becoming an "influencer".
agree with this and think there's something v telling about people going "ooh but why are you on Bluesky it's irrelevant" - what if I don't really care about being relevant! the vast majority of people post on social media not because they want to be famous but because they enjoy it! just be normal!
the proximate reason i post here — beyond the fact that i like a lot of you and enjoy reading your thoughts and jokes and observations — is that this is a non-algorithmic platform where people share lots of stuff and people read what is shared. that's still valuable even if it doesn't "influence!"

I might be reading far too deep into these types of polls, but isn't it a bit concerning that we seem to be at a point where every politician ever asked about has a negative popularity rating?
Latest party leader net favourability ratings, December 2025

Kemi Badenoch: -26
Nigel Farage: -35
Keir Starmer: -54

Zack Polanski: -6 (49% DK)
Ed Davey: -10 (38% DK)

One crucial thing I've observed (in middle class circles) is that everyone thinks that apprenticeships are a really good idea and more people should do them instead of degrees except for them/their children, who were perfectly suited for higher education
With a report suggesting half of graduates would earn more if they had done an apprenticeship instead, our polling shows that 46% of Britons think apprenticeships better prepare young people for the future - only 6% say the same of degrees, while 43% say both equally

What Jack Reed is missing here is that the situation is even worse. They're bombing fishermen, not soldiers, there isn't a war, simply ongoing crimes against humanity.
Sen. Jack Reed: "I must remind everyone that we follow the law of war, and because of that, we expect other countries. So that when our service members are in distress, they're not shot up in the water or if they're wounded, left to die. If we don't do it, then we can't expect other countries."

In November an 18 month investigation into ADHD concluded.

It found ADHD is massively underdiagnosed with less than 1 in 20 people over 40 receiving treatment.

It said GPs need to be diagnosing it.

Instead a review has been launched looking into it being 'overdiagnosed'

Had to make a complaint to NHS Tayside. I've been waiting since early August for an appointment for a CT scan. Been told by 3 different medical professionals that this referral has been made. I have waited and waited, and even had a doctor chase it up on November 17th.

the difference between how FWS are portrayed and the absolutely wild stuff they come out with online, on their official account, would be quite a good story if the UK media weren't institutionally transphobic
I’d actually forgotten this. Genuinely repulsive stuff.

From what I've watched of the YP conference, it is amazing how quickly people are to jump to conspiratorial thinking. "Sects being silenced", "small unelected clique", kind of language, when have they just considered that people are most often simply incompetent?

This country, the government, its press, and a large section of its people, are disgustingly cruel. To the point, I think they get off on it like some sort of weird sad little sadist.

It is IMO not possible to operate any kind of meaningful democracy when your national press is a joke and a travesty, but your mileage on that may vary. I think it’s incontestable that it is impossible to govern well and effectively, while being in hock to these pantomime clowns.

Whenever I hear a group being described as "vulnerable", I begin to seethe. Vulnerable implies they're that way due to some natural factor, rather than because of societal and state oppression.
Sorry, no, Motability was not about 'helping the most vulnerable' - it was about providing people who need modified vehicles modified vehicles!

One of my gripes about bluesky is how little info you have about blocked accounts. If I have blocked someone and their post is shared then I should be allowed to click on and decide if I want to see who it is from. Instead you're left wondering and unable to see anything.
