Routine naturalization ceremonies scheduled for this month in Putnam, Dutchess and Ulster counties to welcome new U.S. citizens were abruptly canceled last week by the federal government, surprising local officials.   buff.ly/8emFeDU

Peds, EM, and FM docs of a certain age know the figures in this manuscript by heart. We emerged through a post-vaccine era where they became no longer relevant, though we still grapple with how best to find the sick outliers, we are now headed in the wrong direction

Practice guideline for the management of infants and children 0 to 36 months of age with fever without source. Agency for Health Care Policy and Research - PubMed
These guidelines do not eliminate all risk or strictly confine antibiotic treatment to children likely to have occult bacteremia. Physicians may individualize therapy based on clinical circumstances or adopt a variation of these guidelines based on a different interpretation of the evidence.

Donald Trump just removed Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth from the list of free entry days at national parks.

They are being replaced with Trump’s birthday.

“If there was ever a case that would justify a verdict like that, it’s this case. You have a 16-year-old kid who is running away from danger, doesn’t know he’s running towards the police, but he’s running toward the police, and there’s a police officer that shoots him in the back. ..all on video.”
Breaking News: San Diego agreed to pay $30 million to the family of Konoa Wilson, a 16-year-old who was shot and killed by the police, in one of the largest settlements of its kind in U.S. history.
San Diego to Pay $30 Million to Family of Konoa Wilson, Teen Killed by Police
Konoa Wilson was 16 when he was fatally shot. The settlement, one of the largest in a police killing, surpasses the $27 million paid to the family of George Floyd.

Cupertino spent the last billion years fighting the Vallco replacement project. And now because of interest rates, tariffs, and all the other macro stuff the affordable housing part doesn’t pencil out.

This is going to be great NIMBY copypasta material forever

I think the *speed* at which RFK Jr and his Great Barrington Declaration/anti-vaxx/Brownstone wrecking crew have been dismantling the US public health system has been really astonishing
Well, Senators Bill Cassidy and Thom Tillis, you wanted RFK Jr. to “go wild” at HHS.

Congratulations. You’ve achieved your goal. He is well on his way to completely destroying the US vaccine program.

A trend I’ve noticed over the last few years is that a lot of the surprise breakout successes in entertainment involve women’s friendship.

But if you read interviews with production, they’ll give all the credit to one of the men on screen, completely oblivious to the audience’s actual response.
I can’t get over how Barbie succeeded because it offered tangible ways for women and girls to celebrate each other (and dress up and go to the movies together) but studios thought it worked because it’s about toys so now they’re making like Bananagrams the movie

people died for birthright citizenship. i get that it’s more fun to be a pundit when your team has the white house and you get to brag to friends about visiting the oval office; but what i’m wondering is if maybe that’s actually not a good reason to throw away something we fought a civil war to win?

One of my incredible Detroit mentors is lost to me now (dementia), but when I was a new professor, he curated an exhibit @ the Detroit Public Library about the Emancipation Proclamation & the Reconstruction Amendments.

I'll never forget him making me repeat every word.

Henceforth and forever free.
It starts with knowing the truth. Don’t allow yourselves to be gaslit into believing this is a real question.
