Greetings, #PortfolioDay!

I'm Jon, a digital artist specializing in speculative fiction and comics art.

I'm available for covers, illustrations, comics interiors, or graphic designs right now! I've got competitive rates and, according to clients, a knack for anticipating what your project needs!

flash drives are so big for so cheap nowadays that it actually fucks me up. i don't want to put a single text file on a 128gb stick. it's too big. the file is going to get all rattled around and dinged up if i leave it in there by itself

Do you know why a president would do all the most evil and heinous shit via Executive Order? Because his party can't easily make it law. And if they can't make it law, they can't make it last.

Don't let anyone make you feel like this is The End. Do not let them demoralize you. Live to see them die.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

Someone asked me if my tribute to the X-Men comics of the mid-80s, Kit + The Wolf, is still up. It's still up, as free as the air you breathe: scarygoround.com/kitwolf/

i know a lot of people are like "live for spite!!!" and i 100% support that if that's what keeps you going but if it doesn't work for you you can live for a variety of reasons, including "read book that isn't out yet", "love", "step on a crunchy leaf", "look at the river", "pat a creature" etc

trans and queer people I really urge you to not be talking in public about whatever extra-judicial steps you are taking to secure your identity, your transition, or your means of self-defense now or ever. the vast majority of your communications are accessible, and it's crucial that you act like it

I don't know who needs to know this, but Pro Publica has an online thing that will format a letter to your US health insurance company to demand the records behind a claim denial. (which the insurance is then legally required to provide in most cases)

Biden has been the most successful and progressive policy president in generations, he’s presided over the best economy in generations, and progressives refuse to defend him because he has failed to stop a war in which the US isn’t a party and both belligerents have continually refused peace errorts

That's what should make Spoutible users nervous. Your site is run by someone who's patting himself on the back for fixing a security vulnerability he created that even a teenager who was just learning how to code should have known not to create in the first place.

It's not about the data. It's about the fact his code review process is so nonexistent he accepted code that handed literally anyone every single secret you need to invisibly and without any sign compromise any account on the service to anyone who had the dev console open in their browser.

Talking about this like a data breach is a red herring and just leads to Spoutible stans like you popping up with "but but but what about OTHER SITES". Not every incident is equal. This is the most severe security incident I've ever seen happen in a 23 year career of watching these things happen.
