Copying across a thread from the birdsite (and Mastodon), because I am super-proud of the character portraits which Jai (my partner in crime and also one of my two actual partners) has done for the ARGENTUM crew/side characters.

So, introductions! (aka who the heck are these people?)

The character who's standing (Sabbat) has long black hair, which he's wearing loose, mid-brown skin, grey eyes, and a scar down his left cheek. His sleeves are rolled up, and he's also got a fair number of scars on his arms. The character who's sitting down (Archer) also has long black hair, though his is tied back in a low ponytail. He has very pale skin and one yellow slit-pupiled eye - his other eye is covered by a black scarf-style eyepatch. Both of them are wearing black boots, black trousers, white shirts, and black waistcoats, though Archer's kit looks smarter - he has silver embroidery on his waistcoat, and his boots are soft indoor ones while Sabbat's are much more made for hard outdoor work. She has long blonde hair, which is tied back into a braid, pale skin, pointed ears, and bright blue eyes. There's also a tea glass in a silver holder balanced somewhat precariously on the arm of the chair, which looks as though it may have been completely forgotten about given how engrossed the character is in what they're writing.

Captain Torture
A four frame comic about Captain Torture. The first frame shows the sign "BREAKING NEWS" and the drawing of a man, with the words "CAPTAIN TORTURES PASSES AWAY" near him. The second frame shows a journalist holding a mic, as she says "A controversial and divisive figure, Captain torture will be remembered for his key role in history." Comic creators, what is success for you?

For me, it's having built an audience that empowers me to tell a long-form story. By January we'll have completed the equivalent of 35 DM issues of the White Ash Saga. Not many indie series reach those #'s. And we're just getting started.
We're not alone...

A digital painting of looking up at the underneath of an incomprehensibly large machine. From the center, a beam of magenta energy blasts vertically down, illuminating the chamber surrounding it. Two very tiny figures walk across a catwalk spanning the chamber, coming far too close to the energy beam. A vast cavern, being dug out from the inside by fantastical machinery, is lit only by the lights from that machinery. In the extreme forefront, a conveyor brings massive stones to a conveyor in the middle distance, which in turn leads to a massive grinder. Looking down at a tower that reaches up past the clouds and a flock of birds (who look tiny as they fly past what isn't quite halfway up the tower). In the extreme background, we can see the mountains the tower is built into, absolutely dwarfed by the tower. The tower is large enough that the topmost portion appears to contain several large buildings of its own. Urza's Power Plant, Urza's Mine, and Urza's Tower from Magic: the Gathering, using the fanart in this post. The flavor text added to Urza's Power Plant: "Escalation is in the nature of both dictators and wars." The flavor text added to Urza's Mine: "Exploitation is in the nature of both autocracies and economies." The flavor text added to Urza's Tower: "Oversight is in the nature of both commanders and innovators."
