It’s a power fantasy for weak men.

They cosplay as rulers while applauding their own subjugation.

He cannot wrap his head around the idea of a non-authoritarian approach to government.
Norwegian PM Støre says Trump repeatedly raises—complains about, pleads for, and demands—the Nobel Peace Prize every time they meet. Støre gives same answer each time: decision is made independently by Norwegian Nobel Committee, with no role for Norwegian gov—a concept Trump appears unable to grasp.

Character limits on social media posts are a good idea.
Trump says he'll impose a 10% tariff (rising to 25% in June) on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Finland, because they've sent people to Greenland, until the US can buy Greenland.

I look forward to the day I can audit college lecture courses after I retire.

I remember one of my undergraduate Gen Ed history classes that had retired folks sitting up front asking informed questions driving interesting tangential discussions.

1999-2001 was such a special time, in retrospect.
I just taught my lecture course on mid-20th c US history, which starts with Harding and concludes with Nixon.

For the first time, I had to pause and stress that those scandals were actually shocking at the time and, what’s more, that Americans actually demanded people be held accountable.
All of the money that changed hands in the Teapot Dome scandal totaled less than $10 million after adjusting for inflation, and it was considered so corrupt we still teach it in high school government classes a century later.

So much batshit craziness in the news this weekend that this gem got lost.
An absolutely magnificent Freudian slip! 🤌🏼

I can see myself becoming one of those old folks that prints out websites/articles to read.

Trying to avoid distractions from inline and popup ads/videos is so fucking annoying. Some sites are basically unusable because of it.

Headline should have pointed out he was probably sleepy after his midnight bender on Truth Social
“.. A Washington Post analysis of multiple video feeds of the meeting Tuesday showed that during nine separate instances, Trump’s eyes were closed for extended periods or he appeared to struggle to keep them open, amounting cumulatively to nearly six minutes.”

Next time try it with brown sugar, pecans, and butter as topping. 🤤
I am in the Midwest and I’m about to experience something for the first time ever. I am from New Mexico. This is exotic and it is thrilling

And after saying “we’re not doing that again” they’re reportedly poised to offer Kelly’s successor an even larger guaranteed pay package. We’ll find out who and what that will be on Saturday.

I don’t know what the solution is, but pay for coaches and players in college football is out of control.
That is so much money
5:45 pm on Thanksgiving Eve?

Now THIS is how you news dump.

First saw this as part of a Cold War Science class in my senior year of college. The professor only showed the opening of the movie up to the part where the missiles launch.

I offered to return the VHS to the library for him and promptly checked it out for myself.

2004. 😬
Tonight in 1983, more than 100 million Americans saw multiple thermonuclear weapons destroy Kansas City, Missouri, in “The Day After” on ABC. A.C. Nielsen Company reported that 62 percent of television sets that night were tuned to the film. I watched in my packed college dorm lounge. How about you?

I initially heard this as “red light districts”.
Massie: "I would remind my Republican colleagues who are decided how to vote, Donald Trump can protect you in red districts right now by giving you an endorsement, but by 2030, he's not gonna be the president and you will have voted to protect pedophiles if you don't vote to release those files."

I read MRIs every day.

There is a 0% chance an imaging study of any part of this man’s body would be “the best result he’s ever seen”.
Trump: I had an MRI and the result was outstanding.

Reporter: Was it your brain?

Trump: I have no idea what they analyzed, but whatever they analyzed, they analyzed it well.

800+ flights cancelled today because Elon took a chainsaw to the federal government and Trump won’t pay the remaining airport personnel.

Elon’s on his way to becoming a trillionaire.

Trump’s net worth has more than doubled inside a year.

Glad everything worked out for them.

How about you?

Reminds me of when people are dismissive of radiographs (what people think of as “X-rays”) vs CTs.

Radiographs have and always will give you better resolution of fine detail than what you get with even modern day computed tomography.
depending on the equipment used a scan of a film negative can resolve to something like 5K
How can there be a 4k release for a 30+ year old movie that was wasn't shot in 4k?
