There’s a ~3.7 million case backlog in immigration courts. The majority of these people will face their proceedings without counsel. They may not have the means to obtain an attorney, nearby attorneys and orgs may be at capacity to assist, there may not even be an immigration attorney near them.
Trump's DOJ told legal service providers who receive federal funds to "immediately" stop providing legal orientation and other work intended to support immigrants at immigration courts.

So much respect for you and others who have to sit in these hearings and deal with this while trying to inform the public about the harm we’re causing our immigrant communities and ourselves if we engage in mass deportations.
Here's a clip of my favorite exchange during yesterday's hearing, where Senator Kennedy grilled me about a 2022 tweet and then appeared to malfunction after I expressed initial confusion and then answered his question — multiple times.
