My favorite horror film. Like all Kubrick films there are so many layers.
The room number in the film was changed from 217 (in the novel) to 237, at the request of the location (Timberline Lodge) so that guests wouldn’t avoid room 217 in real life.

A humble little VHS pick up this weekend from The. Local thrift store. I’ve never actually heard of the film. The Hot Rock before with Robert Redford, so I’m looking forward to seeing that one.

After its release, many viewers reported intense physical reactions: fainting, nausea, etc. Sales of Ouija boards reportedly plunged after the movie because people were freaked out by the idea of contacting spirits.
I can't even watch this film. I find it too scary.

TIL there’s a VHS Hifi format that encodes audio as FM data and uses separate heads that run at higher speeds to extract a higher sampling rate.
