So happy this paper is now out in @plosbiology.org! We investigated whether fluctuations in MEPs can be explained by phasic influences from internal bodily rhythms, and whether this might happen independently per organ system.

Things that will get you kicked out of academia forever:
- taking maternity leave at the wrong time
- spending too much time with your kids
- reporting harassment
- not moving every 2-3 years
- taking a partner's job/preferences into account
- mouthing off before tenure
A guy makes ONE tiny mistake (has a years-long friendship with the world's worst sex trafficker; brags about sexually harassing colleagues; is racist; says women are stupid) and his whole LIFE is blown up (does slightly fewer speaking engagements; keeps teaching at #1 university)??!?!?!?!?!
So Harvard is keeping this guy, but Claudine Gay had to step down over ginned up plagiarism accusations and bad-faith accusations of anti-Semitism.

Got it.

Out now in Communications Biology 🧠 🫀We show that cardiac oscillations associated with vagal tone influence the strength of the heartbeat as sensed at brain level. We hypothesize that the heart may send information to the brain, encoded by the heartbeat strength doi.org/10.1038/s420...
Cardiac-vagal rhythm echoes on the heartbeat’s mechanosensory imprint in the brain - Communications Biology
Vagal-driven heart rhythm fluctuations modulate the heartbeat strength sensed in the head, linking cardiac rhythms to brain mechanosensation. These findings highlight vagal tone’s role in shaping brai...

Doing a lit search and finding many recent papers still using the jet colormap 😭😭😭

Please don't use this colormap for anything because it's not perceptually uniform (changes of equal size don't look equal) and not friendly to people with variant colour vision.
