Welch: "This has nothing to do with the shutdown. The law requires and the funds are available to continue SNAP right now without any interruption. So that is a decision the president is making on his own to allow people to go hungry."

Our new health insurance premium feels more like a shakedown‼️

Thank you, @politicsgirl.bsky.social , for sharing your story. You’re right—there are millions like you.

Our new premium is over $3K/month for a family of three. Could we scrape it together? Maybe. Should we have to? No.

@joeheller.bsky.social Do you have hopes your bonsai will last this long? Kind of amazing to think of all the history it has lived through!
Daily Bonzai: Red Ezo Spruce. In training since 1925, so 100 years as a bonsai this year. #Bonsai

“The trump administration is using the power of the government to dictate what is said about the government.”
And “Government agencies acting as gatekeepers for free speech.”
Direct attacks on our 1st Amendment rights.
Anyone getting even slightly nervous?? We’re waaay beyond Watergate here.

The self-realization in this quote is sadly lacking in the present day post holder.
President Johnson, in a November 9, 1968 letter to the Smothers Brothers:

“It is part of the price of leadership of this great and free nation to be the target of clever satirists . . . May we never grow so somber or self-important that we fail to appreciate the humor in our lives.”

A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say.

This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand.

All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.

God I love Mexico!!!

When Trump ordered the border wall painted black to absorb the sun's heat and make climbing harder, Mexico responded by painting beautiful murals on their side

It’s something that needs to be remembered, even if it is hard to do.
This is great: a National Guardsman standing up to say every member of the National Guard and military "is legally obliged to disobey an illegal order."
My name is Captain Dylan Blaha, and this message is for members of the National Guard across the USA.
I've served in the Illinois Army National Guard for over 12 years, including a deployment to Afghanistan and three years on active duty in Europe.
What's going on right now is not normal.

I’d want to say there are no words for this posture we’ve taken toward the outside world, the “other” in the eyes of this administration, but we HAVE to find words, we HAVE to speak out against the mind-chilling, world suck of these people. Tim Kaine is one example of doing that well.

Of course it’s outrageous the Refublikans in Congress pushed him through. If this democracy outlasts this presidency it’s going to be so weakened by all these inappropriate appointments, it may collapse in a dust heap before we can resurrect it.
Still kudos to him in the Army with a name of “Tata”.

He truly embarrassed himself on this one. Luckily it stuck to him, and really wasn’t about our nation. Too bad no one, absolutely no one, can make him understand why he should be embarrassed at his actions.
Our so called Presidents is an absolute embarrassment on the world stage. He has no class
