If happiness, although subjective, is a limited or finite resource, than our clutching and grabbing to possess happiness yanks it from the grasp of another, creating a deficit. Seems that way sometimes round here.

When we came into being, every gift we would ever needed seemed ours. The universe seems ours alone to experience in this form. Have we forgotten? Did the grown-ups bury that truth? What are we really hungry/lonely/angry/fearful/longing for? Only remembering. Only remembering.

The mind and the immune system seemingly have analogous systems. The majority of health symptoms appear to be our immune systems reactions to the environment. The majority of our suffering seems our minds reactions to the environment.

The universe, lacking to our knowledge sense and mind, may still be self-aware. To imagine that might be a sniff of the divine, a dirty laundry sniff, but a sniff none-the-less.

The body seems bound by a biology, only understood by human in the grossest terms. The mind appears bound by its own thinking trap, illogic, narrowness of focus and finally mortality. Only consciousness could be unbound.
