Every lawyer who signs their name to a brief or pleading arguing the president can cancel birthright citizenship by executive order should be disbarred. I'm dead serious.
In a disgraceful act betraying millions of their own residents, Iowa, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming all write to oppose birthright citizenship.

Legal support and lawyers for protests and action DOES NOT MEAN the lawyers run the action. It's like having a firefighter around at the annual fireworks display. You might not even need us - but if you don't have us and things catch fire, lots of people get hurt. And that's why it's important.

If any company actually ever gave a shit about DEI, they would've spent the money to buy politicians to pass legislation to make the states they operate in more hospitable to marginalized groups...kind of like companies do when they want to pollute more or pay fewer taxes or bust unions.

The fact that the Very Serious Constitution Defenders are demanding we all comply with illegal executive orders that are the legal equivalent of scribbling slurs on construction paper with crayons says all you need to know about the kind of authority they actually believe should control the country.

Ichiro's number should be retired league-wide along with Roberto Clemente's.

Lwayers will tell people considering law school not to go to law school. You'll likely go into debt. It'll trigger all the mental health conditions. You'll cry a lot. Everyone is mean and demanding.

But we marginalized already experience all that. If you're marginalized, what do you have to lose?

Take the LSAT. Go to law school. Even if your LSAT and GPA suck. Get good recommendations and crush your personal statement. Apply to the 83rd best school because it has the internships you want. Apply to the 102nd best school because it has part-time and online. Just go already.

Professional moron, Mike Bousselot, of the most boring city in Iowa, wants to buy the southern counties of Minnesota to grow Iowa.

Bro, try making your state not suck.

Preponderance of the evidence is the "more likely than not" standard in civil trials. The Plaintiff must prove that the facts they presented are more likely true than not.
The Supreme Court holds that a "preponderance of the evidence" standard applies, rather than a more demanding standard like clear& convincing evidence.

This case is about the standard to show that an employee is exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the FLSA.

I love a good civil procedure case. Heads up 1Ls and bar-takers. #lawschool #barexam
SCOTUS holds that when a plaintiff amends her complaint to remove the federal law claims that allowed the defendant to move the case to fed court, leaving only state law claims behind, the fed court loses supplemental jurisdiction over the state claims & the case must return to state court.

I have this unusual obsession with failed cities, communes, and utopias, both real and fictional. When I first heard about Próspera, my initial reaction was, "Oh, they made Rapture with Splicers and everything."

It is actually even worse.

I’m not sure what was worse: that Merrick Garland couldn’t bring himself to prosecute Trump on his own and felt he had to bring in a special counsel as cover, or that he waited so long to do it that Smith never got Trump inside a courtroom.

History won’t be forgiving to Garland.
Jack Smith resigns from DOJ
The special counsel's departure was disclosed in a court filing submitted Saturday afternoon to U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon.
