Birthright citizenship is probably not integral to liberal democracy, but it is integral to *American* liberal democracy. Our vision of what we are as a country, as a nation beyond an ethnicity, requires it.

cool that the official position of the administration appears to be that black people don’t really count as americans
"The Donald Trump administration has changed which holidays qualify for free entrance to national parks, removing two holidays celebrating Black people and adding the president’s birthday."
National parks change prioritizes Trump birthday over days honoring Black people
Free entrance days at national parks no longer include MLK Day and Juneteenth.

Insulting to have to point this out, but if you have spent even 30 minutes reading US history, you realize that every decade has been dominated by racist hysteria that the "new" people won't ever fit in.

This exact prejudice would have been applied to Miller's forebears, when they fled pogroms.
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

It's easy to be numb because it's par for the course nowadays, but repeatedly calling a reporter who asks a reasonable question "stupid" is conduct unbecoming for a small-town mayor, let alone the President of the United States.

The press exists to play a watchdog role, not be a supplicant.
“You’re a stupid person” — Trump lashes out at a reporter who presses him on the fact that the suspected DC shooter was actually thoroughly vetted before he was let in the US from Afghanistan

All of you know Trump is the US president who surrendered in Afghanistan, right? Made a deal in 2020 cutting out the Afghan govt, let thousands of Taliban fighters out of jail in exchange for nothing.

I know the "everything in 2020 was Biden's fault, not Trump's" rule, I just don't agree with it.

It’s absolutely crazy that the White House decided back in February that it gets to choose who makes up the press pool each day and everybody just decided to go along with that.

This country is such a fucking joke.
White House has picked very pro-Trump pool reporters for Trump's Oval Office meeting with Mamdani on Friday: TV is Fox and Newsmax; Print is Washington Times and The Telegraph; New Media is Megyn Kelly. Exception is Radio: AURN (whose Black, female correspondent Trump called obnoxious in September)

It’s funny how all of the free speech scolds, from the editorial staff of The Atlantic to the New York Times, Jonathan Haidt and FIRE to Robbie Soave, are utterly silent on a wave of mass firings over speech — the very thing they claimed to care about. Zero to say about discipline and censorship.
New: Reuters has tallied job losses, suspensions and investigations stemming from the reaction to Charlie Kirk's Sept. 10 assassination. Its findings: More than 600 Americans have been punished, and the figure is likely to be an under-count.
