Chicago being Chicago
Was just at a neighborhood school at dismissal. Hundreds of people with whistles surrounding the school and stationed down every block making sure ICE doesn’t snatch anyone. The same is happening at all the schools around here. I love my neighborhood and I love Chicago.

Want to know a key hallmark of a weak leader? They invent fake scary problems to get support for their unpopular policies:

✅ Immigrants and refugees
✅ Trans people using bathrooms and playing sports
✅ Books
✅ “Antifa”
✅ Public radio

Every new made up boogeyman is more evidence of their weakness

Portlands protesters showing the rest of us one way to successfully stand up to Trump: treat him like the weak joke he is.

Idolize weak leaders like Putin, Xi, and Erdogan long enough you’re going to start acting like them.

Weak. Scared. Sad.
New York Attorney General Letitia James’s indictment is a clear example of political retaliation by the Trump administration.

Have you heard the one about how trans people are supposedly taking over girls’ sports? Here’s a back-and-forth conversation you can share with people repeating that falsehood/misunderstanding/lie:

Okay Republicans, let's compromise: we agree to cut Medicaid and just replace it with Medicare for All.

Now will you reopen the government?

When Hasan Piker was commenting on the conversation between @chrislhayes.bsky.social and @aoc.bsky.social yesterday he dropped this gem: "I think paywalling healthcare is one of the most evil things that this administration has actively defended."

That's so good. Paywalling healthcare.

Politicians can either lead or follow. Leaders are Senators like Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Rand Paul. They stand up for what they believe in and use their pulpit to win over supporters. Other Senators are followers. If the winds of change blow to the right, they'll dive right.

If you’ve ever walked across a street outside the white lines of a legal crosswalk, you’ve broken the law as much as most undocumented immigrants.

This. The question we have to ask is who benefits from this system? Who makes their money off access to a permanent precarious group of workers forced to live in the shadows and work in abusive conditions and at low wages?
This cuts through one of the biggest lies in immigration debates. Politicians often use “the right way” as a moral cudgel, but the truth is, the system has been intentionally broken for decades—slow-walked by Congress and manipulated for political gain.

We need fewer political hobbyists and more political actors. We need a way to do more than aggregate individual l actions. We need a way to build collective power. Here’s one idea:

Cooperative Home Care Associates is a unionized worker co-op in NYC that empowers black/brown women with a say and a stake in their workplace. The business pays their workers more than other agencies in the city.

We need more businesses like this to address inequality and empower working people!
Cooperative Home Care Associates, a NYC worker co-op, pays workers about 20% more than other agencies in NYC while providing 401(k) plans and health insurance. The co-op offers free training to hundreds of unemployed and low-income women every year, providing tools for their economic empowerment.

A party that stands for nothing isn’t a big tent. It’s an open air free for all.

This. If Dems don’t have Blue Dogs then they’ll never pass a new ACA.

So you’re telling me if we don’t let anti-choice Democrats into the fold we won’t get to pass more Heritage Foundation legislation? Bummer
The perpetual advice to Democrats is that moving rightward will solve all their problems.

But look where the party is at the moment: already embracing Republican affect and policies, yet still losing.
