If you say 'heteronormative' or 'unhoused person' or 'food insecurity' you're basically talking gibberish and nobody can understand you but if you say you can see inflammation in children at the airport and that vaccines lower IQ or that germs are a myth you get to fire all the scientists.

this is one of my ultimate “could never get away with this today” movies

genuinely an impeccable way to teach kids that poverty is an artificial social construct and the cops use violence to enforce it

also Friar Tuck is one of cinema’s greatest Catholics I am serious
“keep politics out of kids movies”

Not only is the latest “the rich are moving to escape Mamdani” story a nothingburger (not one person cited who is actually moving, just a bunch of secondhand stories of people considering maybe moving), but the whole “make the rich pay for their crimes” thing is actually why people voted for him

As a four-decade veteran of the daily journalism business, let me tell you: Every competent political reporter in this country knows that Trump is trying to establish a dictatorship. The industry's shame is that so few journalists will say so, and the ones who do lose their jobs.

Honestly, BlueSky is low key a lil boring. It’s just not the same as Twitter when you had everyone from top experts and total randos overlapping. I miss the heterogeneity of Twitter. Notably Gen Z also doesn’t really seem to be on BlueSky, which only contributes to the sameness.

A lot of people thought those viral Jimmy Kimmel vids of Americans not being able to read a map were funny but I’ve always thought they were depressing and the lasting damage to global trust in the U.S. is finally reflecting that.

I think people are taking Saxon’s “faux” transformation in #WhiteLotus too literally. I get that for most of us in the real world, reading one book isn’t going to change your personality, but I think the book is supposed to be a physical symbol of Saxon’s transformation in the show.

Success is crazy because one moment you’re like “wow, how did I get here” and the next you’re worried if you’ve peaked and it’s downhill from here on out.

Kpop stans are truly deranged at times. It’s more understandable when they’re young and impressionable, but the older they get the creepier their parasocial behavior is. Please go outside and touch some grass.

Always kind of been rubbed the wrong way by people saying “Joe Rogan is Goop for men” because men’s health has not been historically underresearched, nor has their pain not been taken seriously. Yeah Goop is bad, but the reason behind its existence is because women have been ignored for so long.

Not a fan of Emilia Perez, but as a culture we really need to start caring again. None of the top comments are particularly sympathetic.

I find the Erewhon strawberry to be an annoying marketing gimmick. In East Asia fruit holds a more elevated status because it’s used in temple offerings, gifts, and celebrations + diff fruits symbolize diff things. Devoid of context, it becomes purely a symbol of luxury consumption.

One of the scary things about dating as a woman is when you tell a guy after a 3-4 dates that you aren’t really feeling it and he gets angry. Bro, we barely know each other.

One time I was hanging out w/ a colleague + her friends and I offered to get the drinks and they were like “oh I’ll Venmo you!” Only got Venmoed for the cost of the drink but not the tip 🙃 Also they spilled their drinks and just laughed as the waiter cleaned it up and they didn’t apologize.
