@ctraeger.bsky.social & I have a chapter in the new Handbook of the Economics of Climate Change (Eds: Lint Barrage & Sol Hsiang, Elsevier)!

We synthesize insights from 2+ decades of research on how uncertainty shapes optimal climate policies and affects the SCC. Our main takeaways:

Is social media to blame for teens’ mental health decline?

Intuition says yes—but RCTs find only small short-term effects when users quit.

This new preprint argues these studies don’t prove social media isn’t to blame.

Here’s why: 3 reasons.

Experience curves indicate that successful technologies reduce in cost by ~20% for each doubling of cumulative production.

However, we find that past learning rates are not very predictive of future learning rates, throwing many energy tech cost projections into doubt.

The issue isn’t the 2035 engine ban - it’s demand falling off a cliff today

I'm back from vacation (and the huge Oakland No Kings protest). Lots to catch up on posting. In the EI blog today, Jim Sallee has an excellent analysis of the poorly designed, but good direction, of proposed international shipping GHG regulations.

1. Lavere kraftpriser for arbeidere i våre naboland
4. Mer å omfordele i Norge
