If you are accused of something awful, and the punishment is homelessness or a cage, and you don't have a defense, and the accusation is enough to satisfy society you deserve everything done to you, no one who can be put in your position has any rights at all worth a damn.

100% - I've quit watching all of the news, but if they would do this, I'd come back, maybe.
If they pretend they haven’t heard about the story of the day, end the interview right there.

“I’m sorry, Senator, we wanted to get your perspective on this story, but it seems you’re not fully aware of what’s going on.”

There's a persistent narrative out there that because state hospitals closed, crime and homelessness are on the rise. This is untrue and dangerous, as it helps to other people who are struggling with issues that can and should be supported in their community.

What happened to PA's promise of community mental health care
After a period of psychiatric hospital closures and investment in community support, Pennsylvania has shifted focus to the most restrictive care possible.

With Elon Musk’s new $1 trillion contract, he could make $11.4 MILLION per HOUR for the next 10 years.

He’s not creating his profits, working people are!

The “Four Comma Club” shouldn’t exist. A union contract is how we start to level the playing field. https://wapo.st/47O88M4

Good news from science!!
GOOD NEWS! For the first time ever, Huntington's disease has been successfully treated. A groundbreaking new miRNA treatment, AMT-130, slowed the progression of the disease by 75%. These results are likely to support the first approval of a genetic treatment for the rare neurodegenerative condition.

It's almost like they know the tax rate is irrelevant and it's services provided with tax revenue vs cost of not having those services that decides how livable a place is and just think you're too dumb to also know this

Hatboro, PA came out! We're a town of about 8500 people, and there were at least 500 people out there yesterday - it was a day of hope, for sure.

I just finished the first episode - its important to realize how we got here, and this does that. The story of Kathryn Johnston in 2006 is illustrative of the evolution of policing in this country.
And Radley Balko is an excellent reporter - so glad to add him to my podcast mix.
The first episode of Collateral Damage, my reported podcast with The Intercept, went up today.

Hope you’ll check it out and, if you enjoy it, give it a favorable rating or review.

Eternal thanks to my producers @lauraflynn.bsky.social and Andrew Stelzer for making it happen.
Ep. 1 Dirty Business: The Atlanta Narcotics Unit’s Deadly Raid on 92-year-old Kathryn Johnston.

This event has had way more interest than I’d ever imagine, so I hope we do some good! If you’re not coming out or if you don’t get everything you need when you arrive, use this as inspiration to connect with your neighbors and do something similar!
If you live or work in a neighborhood where ICE has been active, drop by Nighthawk (4744 N Kimball) Friday from 5:30-8 pm to pick up a whistle and a zine with instructions.

We’re folding and attaching whistles to 400+ zines, so please help if you’d can!

But also we’re terrified of the subway
Stephen Miller: "All that bullshit is done, over, it's finished. The gangbangers you deal with- they think they're ruthless? They have no idea how ruthless we are. They think they're tough? They have no idea how tough we are. They think they're hardcore? We are so much more hardcore than they are"

This is what I heard too.....(though I'm not nearly as qualified to comment as she is).
-This is what I heard: "if you can't meet the standards I can meet (PT!), get out of the Army. If I can't meet the standards (don't sexually harass / assault anyone or commit infidelity), the standards will now be changed so your career doesn't suffer."

Folks, you can't report the United States to its manager. There's no superhero coming to save us.

We don't need one giant act of heroism. We need millions of small acts of solidarity. Help one person in your community for nothing in return. Then, do it again. And again.

That's the revolution.

Imagine an NFL team entering the field on motorcycles and using swords against their opponent.

Imagine the refs changing the rules and letting them win.

Imagine sportscasters covering it like a normal game, talking about stats and next year's draft.

That's TFG, SCOTUS, and the media.

I don't know if anybody sees me here, but I had a notion, and want to know what you think. I think if the US will only recognize two genders, I may have to never answer a gender question on any form ever again, except with "prefer not to answer" if that's available. Do you think that's a dumb idea?

Trans rights are not the rights of a tiny minority, trans rights are everyone’s rights to self-determination, control of our bodies, and a society where opportunity and aesthetics are not restricted by sex assigned at birth

You should support and defend trans people because trans people are people

The extreme, opportunistic, completely disingenuous reaction to Kirk's murder also makes clear that if there's an Oklahoma City or 9/11-level attack in the next few years, this administration will absolutely exploit it to try to end our democracy and permanently entrench itself in power.

I swear I would never in a million years think I would ever share a thought from Bill Kristol, but - this nails it.
Crazy idea: Groups that have benefited from our freedoms…should defend them.

Our media should defend freedom of the press.

Our law firms should defend the rule of law.

Our businesses should defend the free market.

Our political leaders of both parties should defend free and fair elections.
